    £30 hob from aldi

    I got a 2kw one from Ikea for a similar price and it gets my 20lts pot up to the boil - not the most vigorous boil but certainly does the job

    Just ordered one of these and was wondering the same thing myself. I currently BIAB in a stockpot and get nearly 80%, so I will work on similar figure, but I just need to factor in the dead space if anyone knows how much that is?

    I picked up a couple of used pressure barrels yesterday which, although were clean, they hadn't been used for a long while and had a fairly unpleasant smell when I took off the lids. I left them soaking in diluted bleach overnight and gave them a rinse this morning before I left for work...

    Long conditioning in a pressure barrell

    I did that Coopers 3 can RIS and it finished at 1.025 (starting at about 1.100 IIRC). Mines been bottled for nearly 4 weeks with no bombs going off!. I'll try a small sample bottle this weekend
