    Dumb question about bock!

Dear Wise Council of Esteemed Elder Brewers, I want to make a bock but I’m not yet ready for mashing/all grain (I have a book and will be trying it this year). Coopers have a recipe with two cans and DME. My question is: Would one can and half the water yield the same result? I...

    Dry hopping

Thank you for the response - the 2nd one I have to hop is a wee heavy. It is only 6 weeks old. I was going to leave it 3 months before bottling. Should I dry hop it earlier or wait and then dry hop? It's my first attempt with the style.

    Dry hopping

Me again! I'm about to dry hop two beers and wanted some advice. I have a Coopers pilsner which is 2.5 months old. I've got 100g hallertau hops and was going to add 40-50g for around 5 days - does this sound okay? I want flavour, not bitterness. My question is, after removing the hops...

    Partial mash?

Is there a product you can recommend for someone at the kit/extract level? I'm reading about partial/mini mash but I don't think I'm there yet. Thanks!

    Partial mash?

Hi Terry Can you recommend a product/volume that I should use? I normally use a kit, add crystal malt and lme or dme. I don't think my skill level is good enough to mash yet. Is there a product that I can add to my existing process? I've read about wheat malt, torrified etc - I'm a bit...

    Partial mash?

I’ve really enjoyed beer kit and extract brewing but I’m tired of **** head retention. I need to start partial mash – everything I’ve read suggests it is cheaper, gives good head (sorry) and allows more creative control. I believe I understand the process but...

    Wilko beer kits

Hi I want to make a nut brown ale. I was going to follow a coopers kit recipe but feedback from this website says the IBU is too high for the style. A wilko kit was suggested. My inner snob isnt sure (I know nothing about them) - does anyone have an opinion? Any nut brown ale advise...

    Barley Wine

If you have a few recipes - that'd be great! I've been reading about bock and wanted to give it a go. I like lager when I was younger (and didnt know better) but now feel it is bland compared to beer/ale. I like heavier bodied beers. A lager in this style interests me!! Thanks again.

nut brown ale - review request

Dear wise council of esteemed elder brewers! I wish to make a nut brown ale. Can you review my recipe and feedback? 1.7kg Coopers Dark Ale, 1.5kg of amber malt extract, 2 x 500 Crystal Malt grain...

    Barley Wine

I'm not familiar with helles - could you tell me more about which kit/extract recipe you prefer? I'm a big malt lover and want to get a good variety of things I can make. Thanks!

    Barley Wine

Thanks for the advice. I'll have a look at Brewferm. I've seen a couple from youngs/muntons. I've never used these suppliers - do you have thoughts about them in general?

    Barley Wine

I've got a wee heavy bubbling away! I'd like to try as many different types as I can.

    Barley Wine

I really like malt heavy beers, I'm not a bitter/hop heavy fan. Everything I've read suggests that I'd like barley wine. Has anyone done one? Is there a kit you can recommend? Any kits you done and additions that you can recommend? I'm not particularly fussed about it being strong...

    Yeast advice

Hi Folks This forum seems to suggest that trusting the yeast given in a kit might be a daft thing to do. Can you advise a good source for learning more about which yeasts you should use? Thanks, as always! :thumb:

    Bock?

Hi Folks Does anyone have an extract recipe for a bock? I've read it is very full bodied and not very bitter/low IBU. My type of beers. Any thoughts would be good. The only thing I could find was a double coopers kit (2 x 1.5 kg) and a can of light lme. Thanks! :thumb:
