Fupped up brew - what to do?

Yeast was Bry 97 which is usually pretty reliable, right? I've got a 6g pack of "ale" yeast from a random kit which could possibly use but sort of like the idea of a big old dry hop induced hop-creep to bring down the fg a few points in a week's time (just to be absolutely sure its finished...

Fupped up brew - what to do?

Well....... definitely probably finished! 😀 I could probably bear to leave it another week without having a breakdown. I might do that and see how I feel about what to dry hop with next weekend. Thanks for the input!

Fupped up brew - what to do?

Hi all! Long story short; I mashed at too high a temperature and my Bells 2 Hearted has finished at 1.020 instead of 1.014 (so sweeter and about 1.5% lower ABV) Hey ho, nothing I can do about that now. My question for you lovely lot is: would you a) use 100g of lovely centennial as the dry hop...

Dark Rock Brewing Session Series - India Pale Lager Review

Not tried others in the range but would certainly be my 1st choice if I needed a go to session kit 👍

    Yeast pitching question

Would also be interesting to blend two varieties as an experiment.

    Yeast pitching question

Thanks for your input! I had read somewhere that pitching rate calculators grossly overestimate what's actually needed and in fairness I've only ever used 1 pack of yeast - US-05 typically - for 23L & 25L batches. Cheers!

    Yeast pitching question

Hi All, I'm using Brewfather to put together a 25L (because I no-chill in a 25L cube) Proper Job inspired English IPA sort of recipe. The OG is 1.059, FG 1.014. I'm stuck on how much yeast to pitch; the pitch calculator calls for 272 billion cells - and is happy with 21g @ 13billion cells/g of...

what went wrong? (will it come right?)

Cheers chap. Both sound like reasonable explanations; no matter how careful you are 🔥 & ❄ side I guess there's always a chance of both/either of those happening. You live and learn 👍. I've had some kit successes but I'm weaning myself off them and am on the track to 100% all grain BIAB.

what went wrong? (will it come right?)

Hi all, looking for a bit of a 'post mortem' on a pimped kit brew which just doesn't taste right. The recipe was: Brew date: 16/5/21 1 x Wilko Canadian Ale kit (bland blonde ale) 1kg beer enhancer. 250g carapils & 150g oats steeped for 30min @70C in 2L water 20min boil, with 200g enhancer...

    AIPA recipe feedback plz!

Hi all, This is my 2nd AG attempt (first one was pretty good) so am looking for any feedback please! (NB I'm a no-chill brewer, so for the hop additions, 60 mins will become 40 mins and all the other additions will be done with a 10L mini boil the following morning.) This recipe is based...

Dark Rock Brewing Session Series - India Pale Lager Review

Dark Rock Brewing Session Series India Pale Lager Review When is a lager not a lager? Well, we’ll come to that later, but for now, part one of the review. I had a bunch of vouchers for Dark Rock and was planning on buying their all grain Milky Way kit when a post about their Session Series...

    The dreaded acetaldehyde question.

Hi all, I'm looking for a bit of reassurance (or alternatively a "nope, too late: bin it!") I bottled a batch of Maltmiller Mysterios SNPA yesterday and the smell was pretty cidery / sharp. So I'm worried that it's the dreaded acetaldehyde and all 23L is worthless! FWIW all the gravity samples...

No chill late hop additions - possible solution?

Hi all, I'm going to do my first *no-chill* BIAB brew (23L) soon and want a reliable strategy for late addition hops. So this is the "chill" addition schedule from my recipe: • Northern Brewer 6.4%AA 30g 60min ibu: 23.04 • Cascade 5.9%AA 30g 10 min ibu: 13.82 • Cascade 5.9%AA 70g 1min ibu...

2nd time lucky - feedback on BIAB small batch saison brewday please!

Thanks for the feedback! I had a look at my brewmate recipe and you're right; FG is lower than that at ~1.007 :D I'll take your advice and bump up the dextrose to nearer 200g athumb.. I read that step mash is beneficial for saisons using 'traditional' malts so was contemplating a step mash...

2nd time lucky - feedback on BIAB small batch saison brewday please!

Hi all, after a semi-disasterous first attempt at small batch BIAB, I'm having a go at it again. I'd be grateful for feedback on the brewday (the recipe not so much - ingredients are all here waiting to get brewed!) detailed below. Thanks in advance! Saison - 11.5L batch size. OG: 1.044 FG...
