    New car delay

I have ordered a new car from early October. It arrived at the dealers on Wednesday. Initially I have been told that my car has been embargo'd, this is due to necessary changes the DVLA have to make for January 1 due to Brexit. DVLA are not registering any new cars from 24th Dec until 4th Jan...

    Lawrence22 Brew day

Today I will be brewing for the third time what I believe to be the best brew I have done to date. It is a watered down version Of Post Doc brewing Demon Star stout. I have brewed it the last 2 years for Xmas at the end of August. I have noticed though that this stout really comes into its' own...

    Co2 bottle life

I started kegging in August last year. I used a 2kg Co2 bottle. This morning I just attached my 12th keg to it. 10 of these are empty and it is still going. It's bound to go soon so I was wondering are there any tell tale signs it's about to give up?

    oxygenating wort

I was wondering do many of you use bottled oxygen to aerate your wort? The reason I ask is because I have had an email discussion with imperial yeast, I was looking for clarification from them as to whether one packet of their L17 Harvest would be enough for 19L of lager. Their advertising seems...

MJ M84 Bohemian Lager- Serious Lag.

I brewed a lager on Tuesday and pitched 2 packs of MJ M84 in 23L at 18C (O.G. 1.054) let it stand for an hour before cooling to 10C. I know that this yeast has a tendency to lag, used it once before myself but this morning this hasn't budged at all, I took a gravity reading to confirm. I gave it...

    Recommendation SE England.

Hi all, I am looking for recommendations for somewhere to stay in SE England next August. We fly into Gatwick and will be in the area for 4 days before going on a cruise from Dover. We will be hiring a car and intend to visit Legoland in Windsor and Diggerland to keep my young son happy. Don't...

    Brut IPA surprise

Ok I not meaning to be sexist in any way, this is just an observation from a very small sample group. The Brut IPA I recently brewed has proved to be very popular with females for some unknown reason. Granted only a sample of 4 but they all seem to love it. I find this surprising because I find...

    Grandfather transfer issue

Brewed a Bohemium Pilsner today and everything was going great until it came to transfer from Grainfather to FV. I Got a lot of hop matter coming through particularly at the start of the transfer. Never had this issue before. I was convinced I must have knocked the filter off, but it was...

    Syphon

Is there a reliable syphon or more high quality ones available than the standard auto syphons you get from brew shops? Just had a second one fail after 15 brews. Just starts sucking in air. Caused me to loose about 5 litres in my transfer today.

    Brut IPA

Has anyone tried one of these and if they have can they tell me how much Glucoamylase to add for a 23 L batch. No instructions came with it, and the online fact sheet is in Grams per hectolitre but it is a liquid. Thanks in advance.

    Coconut stout

I am wanting to try and brew a coconut stout. Anyone know when it is best to add coconut and should I use packaged or fresh?

    New CO2 bottle

Can I ask what sort of pressure I should expect to see in a new bottle of Co2? It's a 2KG bottle and the regulator is showing it to be not much past the red section. Between 60-70 psi. I forgot to check it on first use but all I have done is run 2 lites of starsan through the lines from a 19L corny.

First use of a new corny keg

I have got myself a few new corny kegs. Is it advisable to wash them with PBW for first use or would sanitising be ok? Also if I do need to wash with PBW do I need to dismantle the in and out posts or just run PBW through them? Thanks in advance.

    Priming wheat beer

I have just bottled a batch of wheat beer. Priming calculators suggest 3.3-4.5 volumes of CO2 for this style. I was aiming for the lower end of this but as I didn't get as much out of the fermenter as I was hoping due to lots of sediment I have ended up with about 3.9 volumes. Has anybody...

    Grainfather efficiency

For the third brew in a row I have overshot my expected O.G. Is this normal with the grainfather. Their recipe builder tool has a default of 75% efficiency. I seem to be hitting 83% to there about. Do other users find this to be the case?

    Dilution calculation

I realise there is a calculator for pre boil gravity, but I am interested in diluting when bottling. Is it as simple as if I have 10 litres of beer at 5% and then add 10 litres of water, then I would have 20 litres of 2.5% beer. I know it will also effect IBU and colour. Just wandering if the...

    Diluting wort.

I have just brewed a 20L batch that has come out at 1.060. I was aiming for 1.o54. The calculator tells me to add 2.22 litres to bring this down to 1.054. Is it ok to do this after primary fermentation? I would do it now but it wouldn't leave much headroom in the FV.

    More Yeast?

I am going to brew an IPA which should come out at 7.3%. Should I use more than one sachet of US-05 for a 23 litre batch?

    A bit concerned

Last week I brewed my first all grain brew on my new grainfather. During brew day I ran into a few problems, firstly the extension lead tripped on me once during the mash and twice during the boil. The main issue with this, is I was relying on the app for timings and had to guesstimate where I...
