    The Homemade Pizza Thread

I couldn't be sure what the Morrison oven looked like or how thick the base is. I tried to get an image off the internet but no luck. Flying blind, you have to make sure the bottom stone is up to temperature, really hot. For a Neapolitan, that pizza should be done in a few minutes. That means...

    MP Scandals

There's another similarity between US and UK I gleaned from the conversation. Here, it is very common, though untrue, to say, "Well, both parties (Republican and Democrat) are equally bad, they do all the same, wrong things to the same degree, etc." It just isn't true. Republicans...

Here, the richer you are, the less you pay in taxes, percentage-wise. Robert Reich (Yale and Dartmouth educated, advisor to some US presidents) has videos up and down the internet pointing out the direct the line between the US being in the red (rich under taxed) and getting into the black...

I don't know, Chippy. I stopped following the game once it hit me (pun intended) just how f*****d up these guys get in a match. I couldn't enjoy it any longer. I was a big fan prior to that. It would obviously be the right thing to do: balance fun/sport/safety. Boxers are a different breed, I...

In hockey, the most violent contacts are when a player doesn't have his head up on open ice while carrying the puck. You just know someone is lining him up for a check at warp speed. I've seen more than a few forwards knocked silly in that scenario. US football a few decades ago basically...

I wasn't referring to that particular incident. As far as I'm concerned that incident would be at least a one-year suspension with an option for longer if not permanent suspension. In general, in the NFL, penalizing the dangerous hits has been beneficial and accurate though occasionally a...

Yeah, I agree, boxing is violent along with that offshoot in the cages. I want people to have fun, engage in sports and all but might as well bring out a game called "Billy Clubbing" where you just go after the opponent with a short heavy stick. In Olympic boxing (decades ago when I watched)...

    Should I just bottle it?

Agree with the above. Whatever the last sugar addition was, if it were me, I'd automatically wait two-three weeks. Temp in range is important. That way though, you're not handcuffed with OG and FG readings though it sounds like you fixed it. Would like to see a photo of that. Like was...

I've paid some attention as I went to a number of soccer (football) games though they were for our ward, female, in high school. So nothing professional. However, it was the perfect pace for me to watch and learn some of the basics. That comparison is totally accurate. Nowadays, a...

I don't know what a "sending off" is. Doesn't sound great. As I've said with engaging in this site (UK), I don't think my Googling everything answers the specifics of what is actually meant.

I'm not doubting you or anyone that Walker's jumped the shark. I just wished that he would have kept his mouth closed and enjoyed being a former high-level athlete.

I guess he's not doing his football legacy any favors.

That made me laugh. I didn't know much about him back in the day, know little about him now. Doesn't sound great. Maybe he is suffering from something? Point is, after fifteen seconds, one can see he doesn't belong on a public stage, politics or otherwise.

I used to play baseball, catcher, and I'd get foul tips from time to time in the mask, 90s-mid 90s, but I don't think it's the same since the force was distributed to the padding in the mask. I did get hit in the head with a baseball a few times and there is nothing like that.

Googling more about President Ford, he would have taken a lot of hits in the noggin at U of M and those hits don't always translate into dementia. Ford was known for being clumsy by the time he got to the Navy at 28 and maybe "loss of balance" is a condition of brain trauma? Of course, he was...

I feel bad for him. I think he means well though I'd rather just let his legacy being a good sport and a good athlete.

No, but aside from what appears to be connections to head trauma, nobody in the medical field has anything but guesses on how dementia occurs.

Former US president Gerald Ford played college football for the University of Michigan Wolverines. Unless your PM is Jacinda Ardern, or some such, I don't think any of us who live in giant, glass houses has much room to speak.
