    5 months in fermentor

Hi folks, I haven't been on the forum for a while hence the question I never got the chance to bottle it due to personal circumstances and then kept forgetting to come on and ask until now It's been nearly 5 months in the fermentor, has anyone bottled beer after that length of time or is it...

    Can't get pH above 7

Hi folks, trying to make my thin bleach sanitizer but can't get the pH above 7. I'd like it to be 7.5/8 There's probably a simple way to raise it but I'm unaware, I just followed a dilution guide online but still wanted to check the pH.

    Made a boo boo

Not realising the diameter of inside of tap (don't know the name) I drilled a hole to fit the bottling tap so I was close to the bottom of the fermentor But when I inserted the tap it sat too low below the bottom of the FV. I changed it and is leak free but would it be too risky to use as a...

hi folks, i bought 2 buckets today to use as fermenters i think the seals may be wore because they leak giving that we want our fermenters to allow gas to escape im thinking these will be ok but just wanted to know if anyone else would use them or bin them?

    Constant supply of beer

Hi folks, if anyone here drinks say around 50 pints a week, how to you set up to keep a constant supply? I was looking at corny kegs as an option but working out way more than I can afford so thinking maybe more buckets/fermentors to store beer in until bottles are ready to be filled again...

    Burnt like flavour?

I checked my beer last week and tasted very little (due to my allergies) Tried another bottle there now, carbonation has improved but it tastes burnt, almost stout like. It had pale, caramel and Amber malts. I added an extra 250 grams each of Amber and crystal just because they were left over...

Whole grain without a milling machine

So I've ordered whole grain malt instead of crushed by accident (the grain is in a white sack so didn't want to open to check incase it's not in a plastic bag) but I'm pretty sure it's whole Has anyone else done this and found a way to crush without a milling machine?

    Reusing yeast???

I'm bottling my 1st brew on Saturday and hoping to begin my 2nd brew same day Instead of buying yeast for every brew (it's not the cheapest) does anyone use the sediment from the FV in the new brew with good results or is this stupid? I will need to look into making starters soon

    The 2+2+2 rule of thumb

Checked my final gravity again today and its the same as Wednesday's reading so that's fermentation done However, the beer is now to be left cold for a few days before bottling. I just noticed on my sheet I printed from the brewers friend website says ales are ready after 4 to 6 weeks after...

    Floaters

I took my 1st FG reading today and there's still tonnes of little floaters in the beer It will be in the FV 2 weeks this Saturday, is this normal or has something gone wrong? Could time clear it or is there anything I can do to clear or settle the floaters to the bottom? Cheers

    Probably a daft question (BIAB)

I brewed my 1st all grain BIAB on Saturday I noticed a load of tiny bits came out off the bag when I squeezed it. All this crud will surely be at the bottom now Will it have trapped any yeast? Should I gently stir it? I know airlocks aren't reliable. 1 or 2 days it went crazy but dead for...

    Element disaster

I originally bought 2 Tesco kettles to use the elements for my boiler I lost a screw and thought it would be easier to buy another kettle instead of searching for a replica screw Fitted the 2 original elements ans a ball valve today and leak tested for nearly 2 hours. Elements held 100% but...
