    Infected brew?

I had a brew that finished OK and I decided to add some finings before kegging and then left it a few days and noticed that I had white "mould" blobs appearing on the surface and a pellicle starting to form. I racked the beer into the keg and added the CO2 when I came to taste it a few days...

    Priming sugar type question

how was the rest of your batch? was it flat or fizzy? I made an apple juice wine last year and forgot to stop the fermentation so when I opened a bottle after a month or so that was fizzy like champagne and tbh it was very nice. Don't know if I could do it again but when I collect enough...

    Priming sugar type question

Just wondered if anyone has used bodybuilders pure dextrose for brewing as it seems cheaper than the same thing marketed as brewing sugars. (eg Wilko brewing sugar is £6 per kilo whereas as bodybuilder dextrose (100% dextrose monohydrate) on Amazon is £7.99 for 2 kilos)

Best Star SAN Alternative including all new Chemsan

My starsan and VWP are almost out but I have some of NoRinze to keep me going for a couple of brews. Pretty sure I am going to give Chemsan a go next as it looks about half the price of Starsan. On the Home Brew Shop website, they suggest that using Tesco Ashbeck water with this so will do...

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

I'm having a Toad Spit Stout from The Complete Joy of Home Brewing by Charlie Papazian and its a really tasty brew. I got it to 5.3% ABV rather than 5.8% in the book but worth doing again.

Your views on how the Tories have handled Coronavirus.

I don't know who we would see in our group to be honest. We have Europe's #1 airport which is a destination for International Travellers, we have Europe's #1 city in terms on people per 1 square kilometre, we have a more diverse ethnic population than many European countries. Until...

I believe that it is illegal to make spirits only because HMRC want to tax you on how much you make. :(

We were doing ours on click and collect with Sainsbury's but have ventured out the last few weeks. Tesco in Holbeach was a nightmare. Orderly queues to get in then a free for all once they were allowed in. That said Lidl has been great both times I have been in recently and with some people now...

    That Homemade Taste

I think it still depends on the kit though. I did a Simply Stout a few months ago and honestly, it was a great little kit and I am currently drinking Bulldogs Easter Brew Chocolate Stout which was 6 months past its best before the date and that is really good now it has been in the keg a couple...

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

Brewed up a lager recipe at the weekend so decided to get myself a Budweiser today so I have something to compare to. It's been many years since I had one of these. Still have one left for one I get my first one from the keg in a few weeks.

Ironically I bought a box of 100 gloves in January as was going to wear them when working with some bleach. They only cost about a tenner at the time so reckon if the people you see have a box then probably dispose of them but if someone has given them a pair - well that's not good.

    ZX Spectrum

Upgraded from my ZX81 to a Spectrum when they came out. I don't recall a fancy on/off switch on the power pack like on the picture though. I had practically all the Ultimate Play The Game titles up to Sabre Wulf and would play that and Atic Atac with my friends. My mother found this little...

****! it's our 20th anniversary about now - I will need to check the date. Hard to remember when its Easter Saturday. Haha turns out I have another day of just being 19 years married before we get to the 23rd!

Well in the BBC simulation a couple of years ago there was an appearance by a Doctor from the NHS Pandemic Planning team. So are we working to their plan or another plan? I don't know because I haven't heard from them since. In that programme they were certainly preparing for 50% of the UK to...

Offical numbers according to John Hopkins COVID-19 dashboard is that only have 436 recovered patients in the UK and that must mean that there are 104k ongoing cases. Something doesn't feel right about the recovered number to me.

our local was selling all theirs off a few weeks back at £2 a pint if you took your own container. I racked up with my 2-litre growler which was duly filled and she wanted to charge me just £4 so a quick calc and had to tell her to charge me £7.50. To be fair even then I think the beer may have...
