Ade's Self Build Boiler Brew Days - AG BIAB #12

With Belgians it’s all about the yeast, most of the flavor profile comes from the yeast. Consider using liquid yeast if you find your Belgian bland. Sugars and Candi also give a light body to high abv beers. The single I brewed had golden syrup in it at 1047 og was not necessary and won’t put...

Ade's Self Build Boiler Brew Days - AG BIAB #12

Will definitely be brewing the hobgoblin Gold shortly. I used lellemand abbey and Tate and Lyle golden syrup in a blonde recently and it was very tasty

    Stainless steel fermenter

50 is an absolute steal, fair play... will Be looking out for that deal myself. If I wasn’t batch priming for bottling I would fill bottles directly from the fv without a secondary. Secondary fermentation is going to happen in the bottle anyway, so filtering isn’t going to eliminate trub in...

    Stainless steel fermenter

The ball valve is over the trub line, about an inch from the bottom so I just tack straight out the ball valve, I tilt a little at the end to get a little bit extra if I haven’t filled a corney. If bottling I would rack to secondary and batch prime Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Stainless steel fermenter

Hi all I have this fv since Christmas, used it about six times and it is great. No thermostat or element in this, seals airtight. All welds no weld points in the inside so easy to clean and sanitize. Comes apart easily and the ball valve can be completely taken apart for cleaning, I would...

Beginners Guide to Water Treatment (plus links to more advanced water treatment in post #1)

Lagering is done primarily in kegs or bottles. Some folk do it in primary or secondary. You want your lager off the yeast cake as soon as fermentation is complete. Get it into kegs asap and purge any o2 then cold store and condition (lager)

Cheers Steve I had a look at that link, it's bit over my head. The practical approach looks a lot easier, I will give it a go. Beersmith has a mash adjustment tool that will tell you the amount of acid required to lower the mash PH, but this Is a mash addition. I would like to to add this to...

Hi Steve I got phosphoric acid @ 75% instead of crs, do you know a calculation I could use to give me a figure on how much to use. My calcium is 70 and my cac03 is 116, I am mashing with 25 litres. Thanks

I think brewers leave water until last because it sounds so complicated. I am brewing 3 years now and thanks to this post I will be brewing a hefeweizen tomorrow knowing my calcium and caco3 figures and how to treat my water to get it in range. Thanks Steve, your post is very complete and easy...
