    Fermenting under pressure

I agree. Stick the spunding valve on straight away and run it at 10-15 psi.

    Regulator adapter

Similarly I bought a really good TapRite regulator from the US, it was less than half the cost of buying in the UK and simply bought the correct sized nut which you can get anywhere. I then unscrewed the pipe, swapped the nut and refixed the pipe. Been working fine for a couple of years.

    Adding Gelatine Any Suggestions

I have a brew which I want to keg plus a few bottles. As it is in an Allrounder at about 10psi my go to technique is to fill a corny with Starsan, connect gas and pump out Starsan via a party tap. I then connect the Allrounder to the corny fluid out and the party tap to the gas in plus gas to...

Brewing Under Pressure with an iSpindle/Tilt

So in a nutshell DocAnna the displacement will remain constant if the volume of the tube remains constant, ignoring small changes of density with pressure, so providing the ispintiltythingy doesn’t deform we are ok. Happy days....

    Just Some No Chill Observations

There have been threads on this and I know a couple of respected forumites use no chill but these are just some quick observations of my own. I normally brew in a Klarstein boiler and then do a major whirlpool at the end using a big homemade paddle and a battery drill. When I siphon into the fv...

Brewing Under Pressure with an iSpindle/Tilt

I’ve started brewing under pressure with my Fermzilla Allrounder and wondered if this effects the accuracy of my iSpindle, or a Tilt. My thoughts are that if it does it is fairly insignificant. If the ’tube’ on both isn’t compressed then the displacement stays the same so the buoyancy remains...

Yeast Rehydration - Do you? [POLL]

I think I differ from all of you. I make up a full starter with malt extract, add the dried yeast and run on the stirrer for a few days. On brew day I switch off the stirrer an hour or so before brewing and when it comes to pitching I drain as much wort, prob beer, off the yeast as possible...

Cheapest CO2 supplier in Cardiff/SE Wales

I already had an empty bottle so just went in and changed it so I assume if you aren’t exchanging you do the same but pay the deposit. Probably best to call them and check their stock.

    Weighing Scales for closed transfer.

I pressure transfer to the liquid out post and control the flow by connecting a party tap to the gas in post. This allows easy control of the transfer and you will see as soon as the level gets to the gas in post as the beer will be evident in the party tap line. In fact I have also bottled...

Nearly a Very Big Fermzilla Bomb

I have been away quite a bit recently but desperate to put a brew on I decided to do an Urquelle clone on a free day. Having put it in my All Rounder I trusted that my spunding valve had been left at 12psi, added the yeast and set off again. On Saturday I was about for a couple of hours and...

    Vaccum Packing Malt

I have a cheap, £15, vacuum sealer from Amazon. I buy the long continuous vacuum sealer rolls which are also cheap. So when I buy 25Kgs of Malt I break it down and seal in 3kg bags. It makes them easy to store and I admit I don’t know if they last longer or better. I also open my sealed hops...

How to plug a tap hole in a fermenter?

I would find some food grade plastic, maybe a sauce bottle or similar, cut a circle larger than the hole and superglue/silicon seal it to the inside. I think superglue is food safe, many silicon's are and a surprising number of plastics.

When to add Blackberry, Mango and Wasabi to a Brew?

I have posted this separately to the Mob Craft Brewery recipe vault link elsewhere but I rather fancy the sound of this recipe: https://www.mobcraftbeer.com/recipes/black-bear-dynasty As with all these recipes the devil; is in the absent detail. When would you suggest putting in the fruit and...

    Some Interesting Recipes

I am sure this would have been spotted before but full marks to Mob Craft Brewery for posting all their recipes: https://www.mobcraftbeer.com/vault I also really like their 'crowdsourced' beer idea but you need quite a few chimney pots around the brewery to do this as it seems to be collection...

    Water profile.... please help 😖

Setting aside service quality the prices seem reasonable, however, considering the very considerable area that a water supply, er!, supplies and how often this comes up in threads surely we should be getting into groups in our areas, testing the water and sharing the costs. We may after a time...

    Water profile.... please help 😖

Interesting the water testing by Phoenix, seems a perfect answer. Would like to go the SteveStrange route but really short of time at the moment. How much do they charge?

    Brewery Electric Control Panel

I am part way down this road. I have assembled/built my three vessels, pumps, piping, heaters, etc. and I am about to start building the control panel. This I hope will contain a PID (ITC90(?)) on the water outlet of the HLT which will be recirculating when on to prevent any hotspots. A PID on...

Help me choose a pressure fermenter

I think we are all getting hung up on this pressure testing. Pressurised vessels should ALL be regularly tested and some, such as gas bottles, diving bottles, fire extinguishers, carry a legal obligation to do so but this legal obligation is not extended to cover such a small market as UK home...

    Electric Enclosure for Control Panel

I am looking for an electrical enclosure to use as the basis for the control panel of my electrical brewery. I have to check on size but something around the 600H x 400W x 150D. They all seem to be quite expensive, cheapest about £70, is this the going rate or is there somewhere I should be...
