    Even Kelloggs are getting involved.

Having just read the article , I did chuckle to myself when it said ...." The Sling it Out Stout brew – which was perfected over five days in the Seven Bro7hers' Salford brewery " After 30+ years of brewing ....I must be doing something wrong to have not achieved perfection yet.

Efficiency difference from different suppliers of malt - advice please

Certainly agree. Have had some really good results with the Hook Head malt from HBC. I bought a 25kg sack for £18.95. Excellent value.

Beer you just don't like/can't drink

I think tastes change with age. My days of starting drinking, were with Gales HSB , Flowers Bitter , Toby bitter and Pompey Royal : This progressed on to Oranjeboom , Holsten Pils and various other lagers in the mid 80's. Then one day saw Old Speckled Hen in a local pub and gave that a...

    Hops

Have tried making it ..... didn't quite taste the same to me , possibly the yeast ? ..... but if fullers are using a genuine primary culture .....!!

    Hops

Thanks......Interesting to know ..... A HSB brew day on the horizon I see !!

    Hops

I'm led to believe that they still do bottles of HSB, sold by Waitrose, since being bought out by Fullers ( maybe someone will know ?) But not sure if they would still contain a viable yeast culture in them. And I'm sure nowadays the ABV has been notched down a bit from the original ?

    Beer Blending

Has anyone blended their beers for one reason or another..... and ended up with a corker of a poured pint ..... One I did ..certainly hit the spot..... not even sure I could replicate , if I tried from scratch.

    The Malt miller

I have used The Malt Miller several times and cannot fault price and service. The fact he uses DPD, for me is an added bonus ( Mainly for tracking any items to my door step)

    Hops

Thanks for all the input. This was a long discussion, I had with the head brewer at Gales Ales (Horndean) just up the road from me , probably back in 1983/4 on a tour of the brewery, and it's been my mantle ever since. ( Gales HSB and that tour truly got me into brewing all grain ).

    Hops

Does anyone still use the 60 / 30 / 15 / 0 method of adding hops on their brews ? Or am I still stuck in the 80's .... Even posting this I'm feeling old...
  18. K

    Probably another daft question. But...

Agree with previous post ....... I add hops at 0/flame out .... and start wort chiller on the go ( Usually down to 24c in 30-40 mins ) . Leaving hops in spider till wort cooled down and transferred to FV. Works well as a poor mans hopback / hop rocket.
