New to wine, but not brewing.

Hi all, I'm a total novice wine maker, but I've been brewing beer since the mid 80s, kits, all grain. The lot. I have emigrated to Portugal, and fancy a dabble at real wine making, as we have friends with a vineyard. I want to use my beer equipment, so hopefully won't have to buy much else. Any...

    Pre 95 Boddingtons anyone ?

Growing up in Manchester in the 70s/80s Boddies was the most beautiful beer that i can remember, creamy, easy drinking, wonderful stuff, i've tried it maybe twice since the old strangeways brewery closed in 95, and its total *****. Has anyone managed to emulate the old Boddies ? I was told the...

    Dry Hop Question ?

Hi everyone, been experimenting over the last 6 months with different hop pellets for dry hopping kits, and have noticed something quite interesting. I have been brewing the make your own IPA kits, and adding dry hops in pellet form after 7, or 8 days in the primary normally 100 grams. I have...

    Light DME, Medium DME ?

Is it me , or has anybody else noticed that medium DME dissolves a lot better in water than light DME ? With the light you tend to get the big clumps that take a while to stir out, no such problem with medium. Only thing i can think of is that its coarser. Any other suggestions ?

Anyone use one of these as a mash tun ?

Was recently given an almost new 20l tea urn. My plan is to use it as a mash tun for my partial mash brewing, i no longer do full A/G brew's, because i dont want to boil large volume's, and to be honest i have done some great pimped kit's, just by adding mashed grain. I have tested the urn, and...
