Clone - Vocation Double Tonka Frappe

Tonka beans for starters, lactose isn’t mentioned. Maybe find a clone of one of their other stouts and base it on that?

If you are stuck for something to do in this rancid weather then train to muir of ord for the distillery. It’s where I am just now!

    scottish trip - bottle swaps?

They had DuPont saison last time I was in. Eclectic even for Inverness.

    scottish trip - bottle swaps?

I stay in Dingwall so not far away. Inverness has the Black Isle Brewery bar. Not really a taproom as the brewery is elsewhere, good pizzas. Can get surprisingly busy and justifies their planning permission for a new bar & brewery. Phoenix is bad either for hand pump stuff. Train/bus to Forres...

    What are you drinking 2024.

Surprisingly good beer selection on tap at Brisbane airport. Used up the last of our cash on a few coopers sparkling.

    What are you drinking 2024.

Great selection in Victoria point. I think over two days we tried most of them. Crimson Corsair being the standout and brewed just a few km away.

    What are you drinking 2024.

The staff told me when I popped into the shop one day. Didn’t have a beer I wanted but found the Nessie rebrand.

    What are you drinking 2024.

Did you know that this is just cairngorm brewery rebranding for a different market. Can’t remember which one of their range it is now but suspect one of stag or wildcat.

    Water use

Living in the Scottish Highlands is the answer (although even where I live we were a hairs breadth from a hosepipe ban last June)

    Guinness

Ron blogged about Guinness in the 70s today. Got me thinking he might have a thing to say about the current product? http://barclayperkins.blogspot.com/2024/02/guinness-in-1970s.html?m=1

    Guinness

The worst pint of Guinness I've ever had was in Ireland!

    Guinness

I’m convinced when I lived in Germany in the mid 90s that the Guinness sold was Reinheitsgebot compliant. It definitely tasted different but as the local pils was better and cheaper I didn’t have it that often

    What are you drinking 2024.

Saison DuPont in draft in inverness. A rare find up here and an excellent beer. No photos, to embarrassing doing so in a busy pub!

    Inside the Factory - Guinness

It looks like it starts off as foreign extra stout then diluted down. Well based on the alcohol content quoted.

    Inside the Factory - Guinness

Interesting how they mash the roast barley completely separately. I was watching it wondering if it was forgotten about at one point.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m001vp8p/inside-the-factory-series-8-5-stout Actually thought this one was quite a good watch compared to the Carling one from a few years back.
