    Really stupid question

No idea what type of corks used. Was a bag from homebrewshop where I bought the corker. http://www.brewstore.co.uk/straight-sided-wine-corks-1421-p.asp I did soak the corks. Then read that they didnt need soaked, so just quickly rinsed the next attempt.

    Really stupid question

I bought a twin lever corker to bottle my wine, and was wondering if there is some special technique to get it to work properly? I've gone back to the cheapy plastic push in corker as the twin lever one wasnt pushing the corks all the way in. Is it just ****?

    cherry concentrate

Got a wee bottle of this but the label is decidedly light on guidance. As is the website. http://www.brouwland.com/setframes/?l=& ... 4&shwlnk=0 :hmm: Anyone used this before and can suggest how much to use? Its going in a bock brewed with whitelabs oktoberfest yeast.

    smoked malt beer

Found a recipe for a smoked beer with juniper. Now this recipe is quite old (ie hundreds of years) and it calls for 100% of grain to be smoked. Which it would have been cos of the kilning method. But surely with modern smoked malt this would be undrinkable?

    Competition feedback on beers

Results of a homebrew comp were announced last thursday, in which I had 4 beers entered. 1 was chucked in just to fill a category even tho I wasnt that impressed with it (bit pointless) one was given good comments, but wrong style apparently. Was told if it had been in right category would have...

Driving test is in 2 weeks

First time passer here in '96 I think the hand brake turns, and drifting on the roundabouts clinched it. Try and chuck a couple in. really impresses the examiner.

    Kohatu IPA

Bought some kohatu, as I liked the sound of it! (incidently, after collecting my 25kg bag of grain from courier, I gotta ask - Rob is built like Arnie in his prime, right? ) Anyhoo, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on hopping rates, or complimentary hops. Bought NZ pacifica...

    crushed grain lifespan

I've been thinkin on getting a 25kg bag of Maris otter, but having no mill, I'd need it crushed. How long would it last for? It'd be kept in a tightly lidded tub indoors so warm and dry. At about 4kg per brew, that's 6 batches and I don't brew every weekend, so possibly 3 months. Would it be ok...
