Free grain and hops SE London

Can’t seem to give this away on local FB page but if anyone is local BR3 postcode and can make use …: Afternoon brewers As I continue to rationalise, I’m getting rid of surplus ingredients. Rather than bin it would rather see it go to a good home. All grain is crushed and is all a little bit...

Sold Blichmann Beer Gun Version 2

Boel Itap versus Blichmann Beer Gun v2.0

Apologies if it has been discussed ( did quick search and couldn't see that it had come up recently) - I haven't been on the forum regularly for a while. I have both the above mentioned devices which ostensibly do the same thing. I rarely bottle and as such have had little practice with either...

    Cider kit - temperature control?

About to put on a Magnum Apple cider kit. Have never done a cider kit before - is precise temperature control as important as for ale? I was thinking of just sticking it on with brew belt and Inkbird (no cooling). Experience suggests that this will result in temps going +- 3 degrees from...

    Ooni Pizza ovens

Home pizza oven owners - I'm toying with either a Fyra or a a Karu. The first runs on pellets whereas after is 50 quid dearer and seems to run logs charcoal or gas with an additional purchase of an adaptor. Any views on pros and cons? Anyone got one of these?

Equipment For Sale Klarstein Maischfest 25l for sale

Evening brewers. Selling my Klarstein Maischfest 25L. Used about 10 times, selling to make space as bought GF a couple of years ago and apart from being an occasional expensive HLT not really found a use fir it. No cooling coil although to be honest the one that came with it was pretty lame...

    Boel iTap troubleshooting

Morning iTap users. Had a first go with my new iTap yesterday and have to say I was disappointed with the amount of foaming. Most online reviews/ experiences on here suggest the product works very well. So far I have tried using same gas supply for both the CO2 on the tap and the keg and also...

Foolproof Blackberry Wine recipe for noob

Morning Winemakers Spotted a lot of blackberries on my morning run this morning so fancy having a go at some blackberry wine this year. I have not made wine before (other than some elderflower champagne which I am yet to sample). I have all the beer making kit you can imagine plus a couple of...

    Elderflower Champagne First Timer

Morning All Normally brew beer but blessed with all of the equipment and my spouse's enthusiasm to try something with elderflowers embarked on 12L of elderflower champagne about 8 days ago. Its fermenting at about 20C in one of my s/s FVs. Plan to take a gravity reading later but my...

    Ruby Mild

Greetings hop pickers After a bit of a 'Leo sayer' yesterday I'm in the doghouse. Part of the path to redemption lies in brewing something special for the outlaws 40th wedding anniversary. I'm thinking Sarah Hughes Ruby mild. So I have the BYOBRA version but hit me with yours. Particularly...

    Sour Cherries

Just went to Lidl to pick up frozen raspberries to go in my wheat beer and noticed that they have bags of sour cherries in the freezer and they are cheap. When I made a cherry beer 18mths ago had a terrible time finding anything other than the sweet cherries in any of the supermarkets and I...

    Broken Grainfather power cable

Afternoon Clot that I am I have stood on the end of the connector that plugs the heating element into the control box. Half the plastic that shields the 3 male pins has cracked off if that makes sense. Both ends of said cable are moulded - one to the base and the other to the now broken...

    Over the top chilli

1.2kg meat ball of pork and beef mince smoking for 3 hours above the rest of the chilli ingredients so the juices dripbin. Idea being to chop the meat up when cooked and stir into the sauce prior to serving. Outside of meat should have nice crispy bits. Salivating already.

    Ribs

Lovely sunny day in S London show just slapped on 2 massive racks of babybacks to smoke. One lot rubbed in Angus and Oink the General and the other lot Chinese style salt and pepper. Now reclining in brewcave with sun steaming through and the sweet smell of smouldering oak whiskey barrel.

    Grainfather Leak

Following on from my brewday write up from yesterday - has anyone else experienced problems with a leaking grainfather? I had left 20L of treated water in the unit over night and returned to find only 10L. I can't immediately see where it has leaked from. Any thoughts?

    Full volume mash

Contemplating a full volume mash on GF for next brew. Not here to discuss the pros and cons but just hoping someone can tell me how much you typically need to scale up the grainbill by to hit same OG assuming no change in fineness of the milling? Thanks in advance
