    Cherry / elderflower mead?

Well, that's me sold! Thank you.

    Cherry / elderflower mead?

It's going to come down to personal taste in the end, but which did you, or people who tried them, prefer?

    Cherry / elderflower mead?

Let me know how it goes! I only have a limited time to do wines etc., so I freeze a lot of things to give me more breathing space.

    Cherry / elderflower mead?

Yep, that's pretty much what I've done with them. I tend to trim down the stalks a bit too, but leave them attached. they come off the stems beautifully after they've been frozen, and I haven't noticed any real change in the flavour they impart, maybe a little bit less punchy but not that much.

    Cherry / elderflower mead?

Thanks! I've got enough flowers to do a gallon of wine so reckon it'd be enough perhaps, but wanted to check with more experienced bods. Or my other thought was to wait until I had enough honey to do 2 gallons, then do two different batches... Choices choices!

    Cherry / elderflower mead?

People keep giving me jars of honey as they know I like making mead, and I've got enough to do a new batch. I've been toying with the idea of doing a fruit one with cherries, but I've also got a bag of elderflower on the freezer left over from some wine. I'm in a bit of a quandary about which to...

Did another batch but think something went a bit awry. Ended up having to add 2.5l to the FV to get the volume up to 5l! It's starting at 1.030 which I'm fine with, but not sure how I lost so much in the boil as I started with 6l.

I've harvested a bunch of hops from work so thought I might have a go at this again wet hopped, and dry the remainder in the interim for later use.

Super, I'll give that a go with the next batxh, or at least it'll give me an excuse to run two batches at the same time to see the difference!

That's generally what I've been following, yes. Apologies for the sporadic replies, brewing an elderberry wine at the same time!

Only if the sediment was super bad, otherwise no. I haven't had to move it yet. I normally do wines so I'm used to racking off the lees, but trying to resist the urge to do so with beer so far!

I've always left it in the FV to ferment, but if the sediment has been bad moved it into a new FV to finish off conditioning before bottling and carbonating it.

I've done a few of these now and I have to say I've been super impressed with not only the method, but also the results! To the point I made the fatal error of going to the LHBS after payday and buying a bunch more grain... With the 1gal recipe, if you're going to add another grain (i.e. rye...

    DIY hops?

That's fine, there's quite a lot of it! Any recommended way of drying it?

    DIY hops?

At my place of work there's a shrubby vine that has been niggling me for a while as I'm sure I recognise it. Sure enough, I noticed it had flowers on it today and it's a hop! They're not quite ready yet, according to some Google searches I've done, but I wondered if it's worth me grabbing some...

Well, I cracked open a bottle after leaving it in the fridge for a week and it's lovely! It's a bit cloudy which I'm okay with, but any tips on avoiding the haze in future? The bottles I didn't put in the fridge are lovely and clear now so guessing it's chill haze?
