Trub wont affect in such a short time, imo secondary just introduces another chance of getting an infection....

Personaly I would forget the secondary and add the ekg at the one week stage, most of the fermentation would of finished by then....Just my take...

What will you be checking? You need to leave the gas on to allow the beer to fully absorb the volume of co2 you require for eg 2.0 vols. This could take some time depending on temp etc. Colder will absorb quicker.

I am no black belt but would leave it with the gas on for say 4 days....

Now using cornies.Was wondering how high to fill them. I filled them quite high on my first effort and wonder if there was not enough space left above the beer as the psi gauage ran up to 20 very quicky. Will this not alow the beer to carbonate very well?

Thanks, got them from Norman so thought the posts/seal should be brand new etc? Maybe when I pulled off the tap the inside valve didnt close poperly letting the beer flow out. P.S are you saying other taps. keggaerator etc need a higher psi to dispense? That's were I am going next.

Will do, had a little air lock activity this am. I am a bit worried about the final bottle of yeast I made up in my fridge now as this has happened. Could I make a starter with this and build up the yeast again before pitching?
