    Homebrewer Newbie. Advice please

Sorry albabru. This beer will never improve no matter how long you leave it. It may mellow slightly but not to the point where it will be drinkable I'm afraid.

    NHS record sharing opt-out

For those who are not concerned about sharing your medical data, you can relax. For those who are though start worrying - http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014 ... CMP=twt_gu

    weekend piccys [london stuff]

You just need to avoid the tourist traps ;) There are some truly excellent pubs serving great cask beers from £3.50 a pint which is not too bad for a capital city.

    Decided To Give Up homebrewing

Well done on stopping before it was impossible to maintain your relationship. I'm sure you're aware that alcohol is not normally the root cause of a problem but accentuates any personality traits and abstaining gives you the environment to address the negative ones. Best wishes :thumb:

    Galaxy Pale Ale

I'm using Galaxy too at the moment and really like it especially with Citra :thumb: US-05 is OK but I'm really liking M44 from Mangrove Jack (or MaltMillers West coast) as it flocs better and works well with new world hop forward styles.

    NHS record sharing opt-out

If anyone hasn't yet made up their mind I would recommend you read the comments on the NHS article here - http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/thenhs/rec ... -data.aspx It raises many more questions that you know will result in a total clusterfeck. ATOS (as in 'They don't give') are rewarded with...

    NHS record sharing opt-out

I'm not totally against it in principal but I am with the way it has been implemented, communicated and how difficult it is to opt out.

    US-05 flocculation, what to expect.

Any idea what it is Calum? I've switched to Mangrove Jack's M44 for the same reason.

    Another Buffalo problem

The thermal fuses are 89p from Maplins so no real reason not to replace it. It is there for a reason ;)

    Water or milk first

Calling the quest for quality 'snobby' :wha: If you are happy in your life to accept the lowest quality available then great but don't demean others for their higher standards.

    which water?

Hi, Of those distilled water is probably the closest to a known quantity e.g. contains no minerals so you could build your profile from scratch. I wouldn't use Brita filtered and the other two are unknown quantities so you'd need to known their composition.

    Looking to go semi-automated

I found this video very useful for explaining what a PID does. [youtube:1cmhvpzz]XfAt6hNV8XM[/youtube:1cmhvpzz]

    Looking to go semi-automated

There is also the BrewPi project - http://www.brewpi.com/ It requires less programming but also doesn't offer as much automation but it may be enough for you.

    Forum polotics.

BrowserUK - I think you are being a bit over-sensitive and I know I can appear blunt/terse which I appreciate can sometimes be interpreted as rude but it is never intentional. I'm just here to share information and experience so I avoid the social aspect. There are a small number of people here...

    Monitoring temperature changes

I have a Raspi and some DS18B20 sensors doing this.

Switching from aerobic to anaerobic fermentation.

I don't know about wine but for beer it isn't a question you would ask as you would pitch the correct amount of yeast cells for your batch to start with.
