    PID Control with two elements

Hi folks, I have a Klarstein / Hopcat and I've also been playing around with ESP wifi enabled devices for home automation. I'm thinking of using Tasmota on an ESP 8266 device to implement the PID control (https://github.com/arendst/Tasmota/wiki/PID-Control-with-Sonoff-Devices) along with...

Ace/Hopcat/Klarstein Sightglass, Sparge and Wirlpool Mod

Hi there and sorry for taking so long to reply. It's funny, I was searching for something else and my own post turned up in the results!! I actually don't use the whirlpool to be honest... and in fact, you can do this without my mod - you just need a cam connector on the tap and connect it to...

    Elite stainless fabrications

Is it worth looking at the powellbrewing.co.uk setups? I know they do a 3 vessel 100l setup with gas burners for under 1k. I eventually went the ace route as I’m a beginner but Powell were extremely helpful answering all my questions very promptly. Their stuff seemed like excellent value

    Fermentation Chamber Ideas

It heats the fridge very well. It has a power of 1400W on the highest setting. When you consider some are using 100W reptile tank heaters, it's definitely enough. The only concern would be that it could be too powerful. At first I thought it would be an issue because when the heating would come...

    Fermentation Chamber Ideas

I bought a hair dryer for €10 on amazon and it nicely combines a heater and fan in one package! The funny thing is, the girls in the house preferred my €10 travel hair dryer to their own and I got stuck with the old one, which was fine :-)

Hi and thanks for the awesome avatar!

Hi folks, I registered for the first time a while ago and have just come back and see that I have the most awesome avatar! Thanks to whoever did that - it's cool! Anyway, I'm Irish and moved to the south of France with my family in 2010. I had been helping a friend with some brews and was...

Ace/Hopcat/Klarstein Sightglass, Sparge and Wirlpool Mod

So I did my first all grain brew using my mods and am very pleased. I also realized that I never uploaded an image of the basic setup. Below you can see the unit configured as stock with a short length of hose connecting the bottom outlet (with the ball valve) and the pump inlet. This is the...

    Ace Microbrewery/Klarstein/Hopcat Pump Mod

Inspired by this mod, I did something slightly different that allows you to easily revert to the original setup if you like. I left the pump inside but routed the pump infeed and the bottom feed of the tank, outside the vessel and attached cam locks to allow you to use the pump for other things...

    Refilling Philips Perfectdraft Kegs

So over on the French forums I linked - they do 3 fill/empty cycles with sterilizing solution. To empty the keg you just need to pump air back into the void which just means connecting to the other hose connection on the pump

    Refilling Philips Perfectdraft Kegs

Hi folks. Thanks for the interest. Regarding filling your kegs - if you look at the picture I attached, there is a 5/7mm silicon hose leading to a blue bowl. You would just lead this hose to your FV and the beer would be drawn in through the tube (even from a height) whenever you turn on the...

    Refilling Philips Perfectdraft Kegs

Hi folks, Not sure if anyone has or uses this system but I thought I would share a simple system I have developed to refill these kegs. I live in France and the kegs for this system are quite easy to come by. The system is described in this thread over on brassageamateur.com. It's in French...

INK Bird Temp Controll - PROBE

Wouldn't it better that you control the ambient temperature inside the fermenter rather than the temperature of the liquid itself? Since it takes a long time for the temperature of the liquid to change, couldn't you end up with very high temps inside the fermenter if ambient temps outside are low?

Ace/Hopcat/Klarstein Sightglass, Sparge and Wirlpool Mod

Hi folks, Since this nice little unit has a pump, I thought it was a pity that it kept it all to itself. I simply took the pump input and bottom drain connections outside the unit and used camlock fittings so the pump can be used in different ways. This effectively combines the sightglass and...
