    Ants in the house

+1 for the traps suggested by CnR. We put them down and the ants were gone very quickly.

    Growlers

My local micro brewery sells them and will refill any other suitable container you take along. As for filling them, unless you're going to chill them right down in the freezer then the best thing you can do is use a length of hose and make sure you fill up from the bottom of the bottle. You will...

    Boston Marathon

Shocking news coming from Boston: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-22160691 I know Baz (phettebs) on here is a keen marathon runner, hopefully he wasn't involved. Sympathies go out to anyone affected.

    Building a Shed?

Loving this thread. Don't post much on here these days but I'm keeping an eye on your work. I may in a position to build my own megashed towards the end of the year and you are doing a great job inspiring me. Keep up the good work.

    Brewdog Pubs

If you have time get along to Tap East at Westfield Stratford as well. Head brewer Jim there started out as a home brewer and is making some really interesting beers.

Anyone else use copper kettle and know if bozzy is away?

It's my homebrew site of choice. Yonny is normally very good at telling us when he's going away and I hadn't heard anything, I do know he's been very busy at the moment.

    geocaching treasure hunting

Done it a few times with my smartphone now, pretty good fun. Had a go at some of the more complex hunts where you have to workout clues to get the final coordinates but the phone app never seems to lead to the final destination.

    Alternative CO2 Supplies

Hi all, just found this link: http://www.hobbyweld.co.uk/?page=61 Seems they can be picked up from most hire shops around the country. I know some people can have trouble finding a reliable supply of CO2 so thought this might help.

Has anyone seen any good movies lately?

Con Air is a great film, which reminds me of Drive Angry, another Nic Cage film I really enjoyed.

    Outdoor Cabinets

Hi All, I'm after some sort of stainless steel table/cabinet/worktop type thing for the garden. It would be used for brewing and bbq prep. I've seen a ss table in Ikea but ideally I'd like some cupboards underneath it. Google just seems to throw up plastic garden storage cupboards so I wondered...

Has anyone seen any good movies lately?

Try Chuck the tv series, very funny. As for films, RED is good fun, loved Kick Ass, Scott Pilgrim v The World is a bit different and She's Out of My League has some great moments in it.

    Coopers English Bitter

Hi there, I made this a few times, it was my favourite 1 can kit. I don't know why the instructions say 500g, mine did as well and that was a couple of years ago, but you need to use 1kg. If you can get beer kit enhancer (bke) it will taste much better than using sugar. Wilko's do it, again use 1kg.

My first brewery... I've got cabinets now!!!

http://www.easywatering.co.uk/acatalog/Geka.html, only found them because of your link. My father-in-law is a groundsman and uses all these type fittings on his pipes and hoses. I'd looked at them before but only ever found them for 1" pipe or bigger. That looks to be a very useful site.

My first brewery... I've got cabinets now!!!

Is that brass disconnect just a threaded hose fitting? Do you have a link please? Looking forward to seeing this progress. People with far greater knowledge than me have answered all you questions so I'll keep quiet, save for echoing Darcy with regard to the 70l boiler. I do 35 litre brews and...

    brewing equiptment (home made)

hmm, not sure about this. I don't know how the conical bottom would perform when boiling. If you're prepared to spend that sort of money then I reckon you could get a 80l stainless pot from ebay france (or is it germany?) which you could then use on gas. Those conicals would make great...
