I am sure LWC would like to have their Co2 bottle back (they normally take a deposit!) D

    Beer Engine

Beer line cleaner is good, or just use what ever you use for cleaning your brewing gear. VWP is good as well. Clean out with lots of water. Braso and abit of wood polish and you are good to go! Thanks, D

CO2 Observation - not wasting it.

Pub style cylinder I have used 2 in 4 years. Half of one of those went to a leak after a party. I am very wasteful with gas. Easy Flow of Liverpool do them for £20 no deposit (Can deliver sometimes). D

The Myth of the Boiling Point

Can happen when reheating coffee/tea. Stick a spoon in and boiling drink all over your face. D

    Kegged lager/Carbonation

If you are dropping you pressure quickly then the Co2 will be coming out of solution, if you are doing it slowly then you are just redusing the volumes of Co2 in your beer. Dropping pressure you will get build up of Co2 in the lines and tap. Upon pouring you will let lots of lovely foam. You...

    500g US-05

Farams dont stock it. Waiting until we need a large murphys order to soak up the exorbitant pallet charges. Not so much a problem at the moment with the brewery ambient temperature. I have suggested a 100% keg brew for this one. A little worried about the attenuation for the cask. We shall see! D

    500g US-05

Thanks, We use a really floculent yeast as a house yeast. Hopefully any additional clearing time (Don't use finings) will be saved by the speed of fermentation. Again this is an unknown on a commercial scale. D

    Interpretation of real ale?

I don't think 'craft' can be set in stone. Generally its term is for 'newer' or 'fashionable' brewery's. Generally should be considered a marketing term to be avoided. Similar to 'hand made' doesn't mean its good as you say it just signify an intent (and market knowledge). the word 'craft' is...

    Chocolate Stout - Thoughts?

Active enzymes in the MO which you dont have in the oats (or very low) will munch down on the oats!

    500g US-05

Hello all. After some US-05 for a commercial brew for a local bar. Used it home brew and I rather like it. Should be interesting to see how it works on a 800-900l kit! I am looking for any 500g packs of the stuff. Quick google shows lots of out of stocks from my usual go to's. If anyone spots...

Starting up a local home brew club

I am Stockport way but its only a short trip on the train (depending on venue). Never make the Macclesfield or Manchester ones. :( D

    Interpretation of real ale?

'Real Ale' can be fantastic but can be a risk depending on the pub and the cellar etc 'Craft' Keg* Ale is consistent (even if you dont like the chill / carbonation) but can lack the subtulity of a proerply conditioned beer. Personally I prefer some beers on keg and some on cask (and bottle!)...

Thermostats on the Electrims go quite easily. Buy a new cable and it should be fine. If you are near Manchester I have one you can borrow and see if it works? D

How can I pour a glass

Old school home brew method. Pour in one go in to a jug carefully leaving sediment behind with no glugging as said then just top your wines up from the jug? Not as romantic but you will be able to get the most out of the bottle. D

Infected Cornelius Keg - Advice please

I would replace all the O-Rings which are fairly cheap to get hold of. Disassemble as you said and give a good surface clean. A good soak in VWP. Also make sure you force (at pressure if you can) the cleaning agent out of the keg under gas. This should ensure that the spear is clean on the...

What to use to clean FV

Good soak to get any krausen rings then soft side of a sponge. Warm water and oxi works. I leave them in caustic solution at work, not really practical in a home environment. Mine just about fit in the dishwasher and the steam cycle does a good job (When SWMBO isnt in). D :thumb:
