HELP! (again!) Too much priming sugar?!

Hi there, I appeal to all you Cider making experts out there! Yesterday I bottled my 24 litre brew of Wilko Cider (from the Wilko's Apple Cider Kit). This kit is a first for me as I have only ever done TC using a recipe I got from here. Success every time! However, I racked, primed and...

    Help, my cider's "stuck"!

Hi there, After about a dozen complete successes with my Turbo Cider I decided to see how it compared with a cider kit. I opted for the Wilko Apple Cider and things were straightforward at first. But after about a week of fermentation, the whole thing's died on me. It's been stuck on 1.020...

    New Wilko kits

Bottled the Thirsty Devil Red Ale today. I did bump up the sugar to 1600g as I wanted it stronger than the 4% advertised. It took a whopping 21 days to finally finish fermenting and am happy to see it in my clear PETs! It's cloudy and muddy looking but tastes fantastic, and that's on bottling...

    HELP! Fermentation stops too early!

Thanks GerritT and AdeDunn for your advice. You were right, Gerrit it was 4.2%. No idea what attenuation is, will have to look it up! I will also investigate that Mangrove Jack stuff!

    HELP! Fermentation stops too early!

Hi there, I've been brewing a Tom Caxton Real Ale kit since last Saturday. Had an OG of 1.040 and it stopped bubbling 2 days ago and is stuck on 1.008. I've been trying to find a thread about re-pitching or other advice and can't find anything even though I know there's plenty out there...

Wine fermation - still bubbling after 16 days???

UPDATE! Finally (after seven full weeks!) this brew was bottled this afternoon. It looks full bodied but not clear at all! I certainly don't recommend Wilko wine kits! Will leave it a bit before tasting (at least 2 hours!)

    HELP! No fermentation started!

OH WOW! Chilled a bottle of this brew this afternoon and could wait no longer.... Result: OMG, it's REALLY good! Still needs to clear somewhat (was only bottled Monday, mind!) but the yeastiness is non-existent, it's really nice and dry and very lively, a good head was evident right to the...

Beetroot, Red Grape and Apple Juice Wine

UPDATE! It's now 8 days since we started the Beetroot Wine and wow, it's come a long way. It's still bubbling (about once a minute) but took a reading just now and it read 0.992. That makes it about 13.5%. It's a deep red and heavy bodied though still very cloudy. Had a few swigs and it's...

    HELP! No fermentation started!

Day 10. Racked, batch-primed and bottled! Ended up at 0.998 so that's about 6.2% by my reckoning. There was a bit left over that wouldn't fill the last bottle so we downed it! Tastes good! Very appley (of course it is, but more appley than Cider is generally) Will give further update in a...

Beetroot, Red Grape and Apple Juice Wine

We managed to get all our juice ingredients from Tesco and followed a recipe from a blog called Life in the...

    Auto Siphons

Thanks Graz, just been looking up advice before buying an auto-siphon and found your post about this method of siphoning. Genius! Just tried it out for the first time and it worked a treat while de-gassing my Wilko home brew. Thanks again!

Ascorbic Acid & Aronia Juice - OK to use in home brew?

I'm planning some new recipes and saw some nice "100% juice" products in Tesco today. https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/278994762 was one (Apple and Raspberry Juice) Some of these juices contain Ascorbic Acid and others contain Aronia Juice. Can someone reassure me that these...

How to bump up that ABV (Dried fruit wine kit)

UPDATE! I think it's finally finished fermenting! No visible activity since yesterday and readings of 0.996 given two days running. The kit instructions boasted reaching this stage in 7-10 days, it's taken 37! Stabilising and finings going in today (before England v Croatia!) :UKflag:come on...

    HELP! No fermentation started!

UPDATE! Today is day 5, and I took a reading. It's gone from 1.032 to 1.006 in two days! That means 5.12% by my reckoning, and it's still going like the clappers!
