    Honey Pale Ale

Why not add actual honey? Added to secondary is the way to go. You could shoot for a higher FG as the honey will lower it further when it’s added. Higher mash temp or a maltose negative yeast will do the trick.

Best Bitter - (First Gold) Fingers crossed for orange and toffee notes!

Good to know! Have you dry hopped with them before? Considering this.

Best Bitter - (First Gold) Fingers crossed for orange and toffee notes!

Morning brewers. I'm loving English beer again. Have been having a great time brewing 'Timothy Taylor Landlord', '5 Points' and 'Tribute' clone kits from TMM. I fancied brewing a bitter with (hopefully!) toffee and orange notes. First Gold was the choice of hops, of course. :-) Keeping it...

St Austell Tribute Clone - Water Profile?

Thank you Rakey! Roll on tomorrow. Collecting the RO water as I type and enjoying a pint of 5 Points Bitter. Another cracking MM kit.

St Austell Tribute Clone - Water Profile?

Thanks for this. I'll give this profile a go. Yes - I'm brewing the latest kit from the MM. Have a yeast starter ready to roll - built it up from Proper Job dregs as advised on their site and YT vid so will hopefully get as close as they did. 🤞 Will update here.

St Austell Tribute Clone - Water Profile?

I ordered the Tribute clone kit from The Maltmiller and am planning on brewing it on Saturday. I've been searching around for info on their water profile and am finding all sorts of conflicting information. Some say it's a soft water profile, while others say they Burtonise their water for...

DIY terracotta pot electric pizza oven build - Advice needed, please!

Thanks Sifty. I'm interested in buying this element. However, it has 4 terminals. Does anyone know how these are wired? Thanks https://www.amazon.co.uk/Genuine-Hotpoint-Cooker-Element-C00230133/dp/B00COPLB02/ref=sr_1_23?keywords=2400+element+grill&qid=1690205184&sr=8-23

DIY terracotta pot electric pizza oven build - Advice needed, please!

Cheers. Need it to reach 450c - 500c to cook Neapolitan style pizza, though. The only decent thing on the market that manages those temps at the min is the Ooni Volt. Cost is £800.

DIY terracotta pot electric pizza oven build - Advice needed, please!

I watched this guy make Neapolitan pizza in his home by using an oven heating element and a dog bowl. It hit the all important 500c and as you can see, the pizza looks amazing. It got me thinking about making something myself. I've built a few electric breweries in the past from scratch an am...

25kg bags of grain - where is the cheapest?

Hi all, I need to get a bulk order in - 25kg of MO and 25kg of extra pale ale or lager. Where is the cheapest at the min? Prices seem to keep rocketing. Usually go with Crisp, but open to new maltsters. Worcester Hop Shop is usually the cheapest, but they're out of extra pale at the min...

90 minute brewday - Raw beer - Kveik Hornindal

It did nothing for a few days as I (wrongly) simply sprinkled in the yeast flakes. I then gave it a rouse and it took off almost immediately and was fermeted out in 48 hrs.

90 minute brewday - Raw beer - Kveik Hornindal

Nice to try new things. I'm enjoying a glass of mine this second. Will defs do this again with a NEIPA. Bought this Kveik blend: OUTER HEBRIDES FARMHOUSE YEAST: SIADAR AN RUBHA | eBay

    Bag in a Keg.

Very cool. Watching with interest, too. Can you put a link to your original post? I think I remember seeing something like this a while back. Ringing a bell. Cheers.

Black Mesa: Massive Chocolate and Vanilla Oatmeal Imperial Stout.

Pretty much done. Hit O.G no probs. Decided to keep sparging as I was good for time so pushed to on till I hit 80% efficiency. Managed to get 15L @ 1.145. So thick. It all feels very 'wrong' at this stage! Good fun. Will ferment in a corny keg with S05 for a few months before adding the cacao...

My first imperial stout - chocolate wafer

I'd get some brown malt in there for a real chocolatey flavour. Sugar can be added directly to fermenter if you want. I found this website helpful: How to Brew a Pastry Stout | Guide to Brewing Pastry Stouts | Secret Level Brewing I'm currently brewing his Black Meca stout. It's a pretty...

Black Mesa: Massive Chocolate and Vanilla Oatmeal Imperial Stout.

Yes it is indeed high. I'm hoping for around 50% attenuation. This will leave me with around a 10% abv and a FG of around 1.070. That's the plan, anyway!

Black Mesa: Massive Chocolate and Vanilla Oatmeal Imperial Stout.

Here's the base recipe. Will be adding around 200g of chocolate nibs, 5 vanilla pods and a tonka bean in a few weeks time.
