What's the difference between LMEs such as Beerworks Liquid Malt Enhancer/Mangrove Jacks Pure Liquid Malt Extract 1.2kg which are both under a fiver and the more expensive LMEs such as Coopers/Muntons?

Can anyone recommend low IBU beer kits? Mr DizzyDazz has just informed me he doesn't like bitter beer, the problem is not many kits give you the bitterness units.
Something a bit weird here, if you tested your hydrometer in water it should read about 1000.
Now if you mixed the correct amount of water and sugar with your Wilko kit and got a reading of 1075 then the potential alcohol would be about 10%.
Are you reading your hydrometer correctly?
Difficult to say as I have mainly stuck to the Beaverdale kits in the past. Generally, I say you get what you pay for with wine kits, however, for the price of a £1 a bottle the Punch kit makes an acceptable red with a quick turnaround. Think I might try a white in their range next time.
