    Conical

Thanks for the replies folks @aamcle @peebee just for clarity - I am doing the whole fermentation and maturation in the one conical fermenter, then transferring to a brite tank for a couple of days to force carb at the very end. I have a lager on the go at the minute and don't want the lager...

    Conical

Do you struggle clearing the trub from your conical? We open the bottom valve but because it's so compacted it doesn't flow out. Wasn't sure if we could poke it with a sterilised pole or something.

    Speidel fermenter jacket with glycol

Hi folks, just wondering if anyone has ever used glycol in a Speidel fermenter jacket with the chiller they provide? We had been running it with DI water and it worked fine but when we tried to do a lager it struggled to stay at the lower temperature, especially on warmer days. We tried it...

    20L stock pot recommendations

@Slid @MyQul great this is exactly what I've been looking for I'm planning to make a 3 tier system for small batch AG brews and going to make them from stockpots but didn't know what brand was good. I want to get pots that have decent thickness steel bottom and walls, these look like they'd be...

    Stainless steel pot quality

@Rogermort @Brightonnik Do you remember what grade and thickness steel the ones you mentioned above were? Just trying to get some perspective before I go looking. The Buckingham steel ones you always see on ebay and amazon seem very thin

    Greg Hughes Light Lager

OK cheers, going to have a think. I may use this as my first liquid yeast run but as we'll be doing it over Christmas with a few cousins I may just go for the easier option this time. I'm not sure if geterbrewed do w34/70 so will have to look

    Greg Hughes Light Lager

Evening folks, My Father and his friend have built an insulated housing to hold our fermenter that should work nicely with our cooling jacket, so our fermentation temperatures should hopefully be pretty accurate. Therefore we want to try a lager (tried to add a photo of the housing but it was...

    Have I lost my IPA?

I'm a fan of the cloudy look as well but have been experimenting with a lot of different types of recipes just for the learning of it. I've used Irish Moss quite a bit and always turned out some very crisp clear looking brews athumb.. As @dullboy said, I through it in at 15 minutes left of the...
