    Back to brewing

Check out BIAB (brew in a bag), only 1 vessel required, and the results are similar to full on 3 vessel systems

    Born-Again Brewer thanks to Lockdown

Welcome, best advice I wished I had had the start of my brewing would be to get a cornie keg, initially prime with sugar, use a picnic tap, you wont go back, once you've discovered the joys of reliable kegs its like the start of a journey :)

    Thinking of making a stout

THBC do a good Irish Stout, not sure if they are still sending grain, but worth a go if they are

What have you been doing with your lock down time?

Got my 25kg bag of grain from Brewuk (at last) and brewed 5 brews in 5 days! (All the same brews, our go-to favorite - Summer Lightning, what can I say, stocks were running low) The allotment has never looked better! I have given up resting between days of running (used to go to the gym on rest...

    Brew Uk

I was going to order from them, but they had shut down their web ordering when I wanted to order, and Brew UK were still taking orders, guess I should have been patient, Malt Miller havent let me down yet

Things to do whilst self - isolating

My allotment has never looked better, the 2 greenhouses are full of plug plants ready to go out, I have a fantastic tan, read about 6 books, the grass is immaculate, all the household jobs are done, I've been running new routes, I've brewed all my grain and am now running out, I've exhausted all...

    Brew Uk

I ordered on the 2nd, still processing too, yet they state they have caught up with orders on their website, still we have 3 more weeks of lockdown, but my beer consumption has gone up and stocks are running low!

    Natural carbonation in cornelius Keg

It's not generally favoured to prime kegs on this forum, but I do it. Someone produced costings to show it to be marginal in terms of cost savings. I do however have gas, and blast seal the kegs with that before letting the sugar do its work. I dont have a major problem with sediment, and would...

    The exercise equipment thread.

I follow the rules, keep 2 meters from all, run in the road if i have to pass people, most of my running is in the downs and off road, i followed the rules, 3,000 people in Richmond apparently didn't, I'm not being selfish or endangering others, yet to see a plod who is likely to catch me though

    The exercise equipment thread.

I run about 40 miles a week, and have had no problems following the guidelines so far, if outdoor exercise is banned then there are likely to be a whole lot of new faces with criminal convictions, me included

    Favourite ‘convenient’ Meal

Fire up the gas bbq, and put on bratwurst, it's a german sausage, great in a french stick with mild mustard as a souped up hotdog, so tasty it puts our British bangers to shame

What are the best types of bottles? Where do you get them from? Share your opinions...

Wife loves Brothers Toffee Apple Cider from Tesco, I never complain as I end up with a constant supply of thick 500ml bottles. I preferred the flip tops, and have a few of them, but with free crown tops I now struggle to keep on top of supply.

    Cwtch by Tiny Rebel Brewery

Did this kit myself on the strength of what I've read on here (normally do all grain), must say I'm pleasantly surprised, kits have come a long way from when I did them in the 80's

Anybody tried Fermenting wine under pressure?

Actually, I like the idea, could serve wine on tap after transferring to keg from ferrmentasaurus, and the wife likes a bit of fizzy, only problem is tying up one of my kegs for 19 litres of wine

    Stainless fermenters

I have 2, the tap is removable, and standard fittings, they are my go to fermenters (admittedly my others are plastic), unfortunately they dont fit in my fermentation fridge, so if you want to use them in a fridge, check height and dept first - I didnt :(
