    Bulldog Master Brewer

Yes, i am sure the wiring is suitably rated but the issue would be with the higher resistance of the connections between the lead and the socket on the side, the resistance will result in excess heat which could cause the melting.

    Bulldog Master Brewer

Hmm, that's not good, I think I have done around 20 brews with mine so I'll have to keep my eye on it, how long was your boil ans was it at full power as I tend to do my boils at the power rating of 1600W rather than the full 2200W.

    Buckets!

Youngs make a 15 litre foodsafe fv with snap on lid. I have one, it's handy for smaller brews. The lid didn't come pre drilled but was easy enough to drill a hole and fit a grommet to take an airlock if needed. Up until recently I just left the lid on loosely to let the co2 escape when brewing...

    Cleaning corny kegs

I bought a toilet brush that stays with my homebrew kit. Cheap and reaches in to the corners when used with the cleaning solutions already mentioned etc.

    Forum Christmas Brew

Interesting I had already lined up a chocolate vanilla stout for my Christmas brew. I was planning to add the nibs at 10 minutes in the boil but I see the suggested recipe recommends adding them in the fv at primary, is there any harm in my idea or would the best option to be in the fv, or maybe...

A kit similar to Timothy Taylor Landlord?

Yep, I made the MM TT landlord premium kit a few months ago and it's pretty good, it almost gone now but the colour and taste is a close match, I couldn't seem to match the aroma, seemed creamier than the Bottled original I used for comparison but that might just be the difference in carbing...

Best app to use with iSpindel

Try brewspy on the Google play store, quite a nifty little app and the developer is active in keeping the app updated. I asked him if he could build an offset feature for temp measurements as the temp in my ispindel was reading high, he replied and in the next release the feature had been added.

Hi Derek, I've not had that problem, have you checked there is not a blockage or that the valve tap has not become disconnected from the ball valve. Put some water in the boiler, run the pump and open the valve to check that it's flowing ok

just done a brew after widening the slots in the sparge plate, it worked a treat and didn't clog, got a decent continuous flow, the sparging with water also went much more smoothly to.

Dry hopping in a corny keg

There is no internal magnet Sorry, but you mentioned if 2 magnets were used, one on the inside and one on the outside, the hops wouldn't drop when the external magnet was removed. But if the lid is aluminium, the hops would drop as the internal magnet wouldn't stick ti the lid. Just saying 😊

Dry hopping in a corny keg

Isn't your keg lid aluminum, mine is and therefore no ferrous so the internal magnet would not stick to the lid without the help of the external magnet.

And a dust mask, do you know if the old paint might contain lead, if so, be careful

I have a similar job to do, what type of sander did you use as I was thinking of doing it by hand to be with grain rather than orbital across the grain

Igenix 30L Stainless Steel Catering Urn

I've just checked my bulldog sparger, the dial claims to go up to 110 deg C although I haven't tried it at that temp setting, so ought to be able to maintain a rolling boil without clicking off and on around the 100 deg C mark

    Dust Cover for equipment

I just keep my kit in the cardboard boxes it was delivered in. Keeps it all together and I can stack the boxes on top of each other so takes up minimal space in the garage

    Bulldog Master Brewer

Hi Derek, midlands here, it's much cooler this week, 8 just need to get organised before the warm weather comes back. I will try widening some of the slots to see how that goes for my next brew
