Boiled for too long - IBU 104?

Hey folks, Recipe called for an initial 12 minute hop boil. 50g Bravo for 12 min. Accidentally added them at the start of the boil. 60 minutes instead of 12! My calc reckons this will give an overall IBU (with the other additions) of 104. It's now fermenting. Is this a write off? Will it...

Low Efficiency Problems - Second Brew Day with Brew Devil (Klarstein/Ace/Hopcat/Guten Clone)

Hey folks, Second ever brew for me today. I created a recipe on BrewFather (using a Gypsy Hill recipe for inspiration). Click here for my recipe. Summary: I had an efficiency of around 63%, and I don't know why. I've documented every step carefully. Mash: The water volumes generated by...

Water depth in malt pipe seems too shallow for grain bill (Brew Devil, Son of Punkie Ipa kit)

OK folks, brew complete. OG of 1049. This is obviously about 10 points off where it should be, according to the recipe. (Recipe calls for 1059). Is this a disaster?

Water depth in malt pipe seems too shallow for grain bill (Brew Devil, Son of Punkie Ipa kit)

OK, bit of a problem. Given that the boil volume is 26.84l, and I'd have to be adding at least some back as sparge, I started with a total volume of liquor of 26l. Added the 5kg grain bill, mashed in. So far so good. But, when adding the top mesh plate to the malt pipe, it basically sank...

Water depth in malt pipe seems too shallow for grain bill (Brew Devil, Son of Punkie Ipa kit)

OK, brilliant, I'm going to do it the BIAB way for my first go. The instructions have a "boil size" of 26.84l. Is this the amount of water I should add to the Brew Devil, before adding grain?

Water depth in malt pipe seems too shallow for grain bill (Brew Devil, Son of Punkie Ipa kit)

Hey folks, my first ever brew. According to the instructions on Malt Miller's Son of Punkie kit, I need to use 12.5l of liquor. The problem is that with this amount in the Brew Devil, and the malt pipe added (the cylinder thing with the false bottom and overflow pipe), there's only about 5cm...

Keeping whole hops in FV when bottling

Cheers folks! One final question? By the end of today I'll have all the liquor transferred to my FV. I've read that it's best not to dry hop until fermentation is basically complete. But, if I add the yeast to the liquor today, how do I know when it's time to add the dry hops?

Keeping whole hops in FV when bottling

Thanks, but the thing is I don't have a hop bag, and I don't have any brew shops open to me today. I was thinking though; because I'm dry hopping with whole hops, won't these float in the FV? Because if so, they won't reach the tap of the FV until the very end of racking, which is fine really.

Keeping whole hops in FV when bottling

So, I've just come into possession of my first ever brewing equipment. Brew-devil 30L, along with a basic fermentation vessel and bottling wand from Malt Miller. The recipe I'm using is the Son of Punkie Ipa. It calls for dry hopping with whole hops, which I'll be doing in the primary (and...
