    No/low alcohol brew

Thanks! I might give it another bash at 80 then

    No/low alcohol brew

How did people find the above brew? I found that an 80°c mash gave really quite an astringent taste and dropping it to 74°c made it much nicer at the expense of more alcohol. Are other people not finding the astringency at 80°c, there’s always the possibility that it’s something with my process

    Brew fridge and equipment

If you put something in the Wanted and For Sale forum you might have some luck. I think that the trouble is you're going to need someone pretty local with a decent sized vehicle to collect it and at that point it's very much a buyer's market. Best of luck

    Brew fridge and equipment

Hi there, From my experience of selling brewing related things, on here and elsewhere, your biggest issue isn't price but collection. Where in the country are you? R

Equipment For Sale Cool box mash tun

Hi there, I built and tested this a while ago before deciding that a felt happier with programmatic control with a homemade all in one BIAB vessel. Anyway, it comprises 38l (I think, Aldi cool box), 3-piece ball valve, helix filter, 1/2 inch tee, 1/2 inch straight nipple, 2x stainless steel...

Equipment For Sale Most of a keezer

This is gone now. I sold the chest freezer on its own. If anyone has any thoughts on why folks weren't interested in this I'd be interested. Do you think it was the size? The price? Or is it just a demand in Sheffield issue? I'll set up a new post if anyone wants the shanks! Thanks

Equipment For Sale Most of a keezer

Without the collar it's 55cm*55cm*83cm (photos attached) I've taken the collar off so don't have exact measurements but it'll add the width of a scaffold board to each side so call it 60x60 and then probably another 15cm in height so best estimate 60x60x100 (without the taps sticking out of the...

Equipment For Sale Most of a keezer

Hi there, I decided to change up my garage dispensing so am getting rid of my keezer. It's basically a 102l chest freezer that fits 4 kegs (as long as they are tall ones) with a (admittedly ugly but effective) collar and 4x10cm shanks. I had it with an STC-1000 on but I've taken that to the...

Custom made hand pull & fridge - free (collection only)

I'm not far away from you at all, just in Sheffield. Let me know how it goes if the other person planning to collect can't make it I can pop over whenever suits you. Regarding the Dragons films, I must admit to letting them wash over me as the kids watch them but I was always a little confused...

Custom made hand pull & fridge - free (collection only)

Hi nitefury, I'd be interested but don't think I'd feel right about just taking it. Perhaps, if you had a favourite charity I could make a donation to that if that worked for you? Also, excellent choice of name, my sons are very into those films R

    WANTED Corny Setup

What're you looking for? Just the kegs or regulators, taps, connectors? A converted fridge or freezer even? I think a problem you might have is that Corny Kegs are essentially immortal so they hold their value really well. If I was buying today I'd be looking at something reconditioned from...

Have THBC stopping delivering to UK?

I'm not sure it's their choice. Obviously the economics of the situation have changed so they've withdrawn their UK offering. I'm sure this upsets them more than us as it's a comparatively big market they're losing. Then again if they've accepted an order taken money and are not fulfilling it...

Have THBC stopping delivering to UK?

I was just checking an order I've got outstanding with THBC and there's now a banner saying they're no longer delivering to UK addresses. I'm assuming this is part of the new VAT business

Kit american IPA PB and hop woes advice appreciated

I understand that you don't want to leave your dry hops in for too long as you might get a "grassy" taste but 6 days is nothing to worry about. They won't have added significant bitterness either as they weren't boiled, they're an aroma addition. I'm surprised that you're finding it way too...

    Help save a brew

I'm a grumpy git who has a problem that I often argue principle rather than letting things slide pragmatically. I have been known to quote clauses of the consumer rights act or GDPR regulations at people who I don't think are behaving appropriately. If they hadn't refunded or sent the missing...

    Help save a brew

So, what I reckon I'm going to do is make a hop tea with 1l of water boiling for an hour with 13g Citra 14.5% AA in Beersmith reckons this will give me about another 30 IBU. I'll also do a dry hop with some Mosaic and more Citra. I'll let you know how it pans out. On the other point in the...

    Help save a brew

Thanks for all of the responses guys, To try and answer all of the questions in one post. I will name and shame if it doesn't get sorted but these are tricky times for us all and I'm trying to give them a chance to do the right thing. I will update you either way. I realise that 30 IBU isn't...

    Help save a brew

Hi there, I'm hoping for some rescue recipe advice. I'm normally a all grain brewer but due to work/parenting/lockdown I ordered some kits to keep myself stocked until I had a chance to brew all grain again. The brew that I was putting on was a 60IBU DIPA but stupidly I didn't check the bag...

What are the best types of bottles? Where do you get them from? Share your opinions...

To combine the flip-top aspect as well as getting ones full of beer, plus the advantage of a crate to store them in you could look here https://www.my-food-online.net/drinks/beers/boxes?p=1 The beer is cheap, the postage is about the same as the beer but it doesn't work out wildly expensive...

    Regulator Questions

You could do this with a single primary regulator and single secondary regulator. If your "different" serving pressure is lower than your serving pressure for your pale ales then you can split the line after the pass-through on the secondary regulator and have both of those lines going to your...
