    Morning from Somerset

We have a home brew group (West Country Home Brewers) and meet monthly in Weston-super-Mare. I know it’s a bit of a hike from where you are but if you’re ever in the area on the second Tuesday of the month, you’d be welcome to join us.

    Brewuk website "down for maintenance"

They won’t last long if that’s their attitude to customers. Thanks for sharing your experience from the inside.

    Brewuk website "down for maintenance"

Yes, it was an unpleasant experience made worse by the fact it was £900 not refunded. It eventually cost them hundreds of pounds more when all the costs and interest to me was factored in. In one if the very few discussions I managed to have with them, the person I was talking to did say some...

    Brewuk website "down for maintenance"

I had a difficult situation with Brew UK regarding a refund for a glycol chiller which they’d advertised as being at a lower price than any of their competitors. I complained when I found it on other sites at a much lower price at the same point in time. It took me 6 months to get anything other...

Loose Grainfather G40 hop filter plate?

Yes, I’ve done 3 brews with the new filter plate and it has performed well in all of them. In fact, on the latest brew a couple of days ago, it took quite a lot of effort to remove it during the clean up.

Loose Grainfather G40 hop filter plate?

I had a loose fitting filter plate which I believe was pulled out of position when the malt basket was lifted. I had a blocked pump on a couple of occasions. I got in touch with MM who I bought it from and they suggested I push the filter plate into position with a good deal of force which I’d...

    Dorset home-brewers grain group buy

I put a post on Saturday on some Facebook brewing groups I’m a member of trying to do the same for the North Somerset area. Why I didn’t do it on this group I’m not too sure!! As always, geography is a challenge but I got 8 responses from brewers interested in meeting to taste and swap beers...

    Robobrew and Grainfather false bottom

I’ve done tons of brews but never had a problem with the basic filter and nothing else (well there was once but I put that down to stupidity!!). On the transfer to the fermenter, I use the GF mash paddle to gently scrape the front of the filter making sure I only apply pressure in the direction...

    Geterbrewed?

I bought an all grain recipe kit from them a while back and one of the ingredients was not per the recipe. They emailed me to tell me of their mistake (mix up in the warehouse somewhere) and sent me an entirely new shipment with all the correct ingredients even though it was a minor error on one...

Top of the range Beer Kit v All Grain

I was given a MJ blueberry cider kit which I brewed about 9 months ago. I don’t drink cider very often and I’m not very keen on the fruit ciders but the friends I have this brew to thought it was lovely.

Top of the range Beer Kit v All Grain

I have been all grain brewing for about 35 years having started brewing with kits - Boots was my main source back in the day. I’ve had a Grainfather since they first came out and I think the quality I can brew is far superior to any kit. Having said that, I haven’t tried any of the modern kits...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

I've got a Fuggles hop plant which I was given in a pot a couple of years ago. It had a few flowers on it the first year but last year, after I'd planted it in the ground, I got 450g of hop flowers from it. I cut it back at the end of last year and it's got shoots again as of a couple of weeks...
