    First wine kit newbie question

Fair enough chippy, I'll rack it later on. Do you think adding any more nutrients at this stage would be any help?

    First wine kit newbie question

Chippy iv just noticed im getting a eggy (sulphur) smell from the rose type batch, is there anything that can be done to this or is it destined for the sink? Thanks Sam

One is purple grape juice (couldn't find red) & cranberry & the other is purple grape juice & apple, basically a tweaked red & rose from the WOW thread

    First wine kit newbie question

So i couldn't wait much longer to bottle my first batch so i gave in last night haha, it didn't seem like it was going to get any clearer so looks like I'll just have to have a cloudy first lot. Ah well not the end of the world, still tastes good to me athumb.. I did manage to get these on the...

    First wine kit newbie question

Thanks all, im away for a couple of days so i think I'll just leave it alone for now. Then probably bottle it cloudy and put it down to experiance haha. For future batches i will definitely make a degassing wand and make sure iv give it enough of a degassing before trying to clear. And as for...

    First wine kit newbie question

Thanks matey, I'll definitely be making a wand for future brews. For this one should i just let it sit it out until clear enough then? Thanks again

    First wine kit newbie question

So is it just a case of waiting now then? I transferred it from bucket to bucket 6 times like the instructions said with a bit of vigorous stirring through in there aswell. To be honest i think it looked clearer than it does now before i added the finings! Thanks Sam

    First wine kit newbie question

Thanks for the response chippy I cant see the bottom from above or with a torch against the side. From above it still looks like a weird marbled type effect? Iv added a couple more pics to see if it makes it any clearer to you?

    First wine kit newbie question

Sorry to mither again chippy Had a quick look at my wine again this morning to see how its doing. It doesn't look to good to me :( Im not sure how well the pictures will show but it looks like it has done the opposite of clearing? It seem like its marbled with cloudiness. Any ideas why? And...

    First wine kit newbie question

One more quick one chippy, How long can i leave the wine to clear? Is there a certain amount of time before it should at least be racked off of the lees?

    First wine kit newbie question

Fair enough pal, I'll try a few juice recipes first see how they go and then might try some of the powders.

    First wine kit newbie question

Cheers chippy, i shall leave it for as long as it takes even though it'll be hard haha. And i have already been on the thread and eyed up my next batch using different juices. Can i just ask what your opinions are on grape powders? Thanks Sam

    First wine kit newbie question

I feel like it will be like this for my next few times haha. I finished adding all of the finings sachets yesterday and its now sat clearing, supposedly takes 24 hours but seems like its going to take longer than that

    First wine kit newbie question

Yeah i had seen this just before i started but I'll be honest, i was being a bit impatient (which i know i shouldn't) i will make one for the next batch

    First wine kit newbie question

Thanks for the swift reply graz, the bubbling is probably less than this to be fair so like u say it is most probably just some CO2 being released. I shall move on to the next steps then. Thanks again

    First wine kit newbie question

Hi all, I have recently took the plunge into brewing my first 6 bottle win kit and need a little advice. The kit says on the 6th day check the s.g and if its in the blue band and under 0.994 its good to move on to the next steps. I have just measured the s.g now and it is infact in the...
