    DIY Steel immersion chiller advice

I use ASC in Lincoln for my non ferrous supplies. There are loads of companies across the country that supply stainless tube so you should be able to find on local to yourself.

    DIY Steel immersion chiller advice

The tube I used was 321 grade as I had a few lengths kicking around but I would think 316 would be good, the tube is 11mm diameter and about 0.7mm wall thickness. I made a 5” mandrel that I put in my lathe and then turned the chuck pulling the tube around the mandrel. You could do the same by...

    DIY Steel immersion chiller advice

Here is my Stainless chiller (during construction as it now has taps on the top and support bars). Four coils fed by one of the tubes and waste up the other tube.

Lose Weight - DRINK MORE BEER

Slightly off topic but I’m interested in brewing some low alc pale ale. I’ve just made a “cold extraction” brew that will be about 1.5%. How do you achieve this and how does it taste?

    Keg Kingdom

I’m just wondering if anybody knows if this company is still trading? I placed an order on the 11th of last month, payment has been made but no goods have been received or details of shipping. I have called both numbers more times than I care to count with no answer or reply to messages left...

    Homemade hop filter

Yes it is inspired by the “hop stopper” that the Electric Brewery sell. The Mesh is 0.497mm aperture and 0.25mm diameter. I have made some simple tooling to enable a neat circle to be flanged on the top and bottom halves which were then clinched and spot welded together and form an outer ring...

    Homemade hop filter

I have tried whirlpooling with good results until the last 4 litres need to be transferred and then the sediment starts to be transferred also. A friend pointed me in the direction of a mesh filter and I have made something very similar. Here are some pictures and results from my latest brew day...

    Hop Spider Thingy

Some close ups of spot welds, some are mesh to mesh and also mesh to a stainless washer. Mesh is 0.497mm aperture and 0.25mm diameter.

    Hop Spider Thingy

I would think this has been “spot welded” together. It will be made of stainless steel mesh. You may be able to find a fabrication company local to yourself or even a car body shop that may be able to re weld it for you but it needs a welder that is capable of turning the current and time down...

    Hello from the East Midlands

David. Give it a go soon! I prefer my all grain pale ales to some of the stuff I’ve had to buy! If your anything like me your Engineering mind will be looking to improve the kit and wanting to know as much about everything as you can find out, as with a lot of things there is a lot of...

    Hello from the East Midlands

I have brewed from kits many years ago when “Boots” used to sell kits and equipment and then a couple of years ago I resurrected the equipment and made a few modern kits! I’m now doing all grain, mainly single hop pale ale recipes to see what they come out like and very pleased with the...
