Help starting up. Best place to buy?

I got this kit to start up: https://www.beerhawk.co.uk/brewery-in-a-box-essential-starter-kit I think I paid £50 for it, but even at £70 I think it's well worth it. It even includes a SS brew kettle, and a full extract beer to brew (with steeping grains and extra hops). Still going strong...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

If I make a bulk purchase of all the components, I'll be making little kits to sell. Depending on how easy (or not!) it is, I may decide to sell them already assembled/soldered. Probably would be a couple of months before all the components arrive. From what I could see, kits on eBay are going...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

Bah, was hoping you had a cheap supplier up your sleeve! I'll keep looking, but may end up having to buy from the same source. Again, extremely useful tip, thanks! Noted. Might have to source these from other than 'the cheapest I could find on aliexpress'. Yes, getting these as per the...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

@ChrisT thanks that's really useful info! I was almost convinced, but 'The Jeffrey' is the one for me! I've sourced pretty much everything now, aside from the 18650 batteries and the Petling tubes (which seem to be surprisingly hard to locate at a decent price). For the tubes I know there's...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

I've been looking at 'The Jeffrey' v2.1 PCB. The designer has open sourced the gerber files, and the site he suggests you use (pcbway - he gets a referral fee if you click the link from his site and you get $5 discount on your first order) allows you to upload the gerber files to define the PCB...

    Noob questions on first kit

Hopefully it's beer by this point, rather than wort

    Forum Meet up

I love the taproom at Pressure Drop brewery, round the corner from Beavertown on the same trading estate. I actually prefer their beers to Beavertown. Very much want to try the taproom in Hackney, along with all the other places mentioned here!

CAN BUBBLING FROM FERMENTATION BIN BE ANYTHING OTHER THAN FERMENTATION

I've got a brew on at the moment that's doing the same thing, but with the help of my trusty hydrometer I know that fermentation has actually finished (same SG 3 days apart). I assume the bubbles are just due to temp fluctuations in my kitchen where it's brewing, or (more likely) some...

    Hazy Jane DIY Dog

Assuming you skip the 10m addition (or even if you don't), how long would you boil for? Is 30m enough to pasteurise, given there are no bittering additions?

restarted fermentation due to hot weather

Update: SG is now down to 1.002 (!) meaning an apparent 95% attenuation. Is this likely, or is something else odd going on here? Bubbling has definitely slowed, but I don't want to bottle until it's definitely finished dropping. Can't go much more though surely?

restarted fermentation due to hot weather

Thanks @peebee. Given that this has been going on for about 5 days now, and that I've dropped a couple of gravity points, I'm inclined to think it's more than just dissolved co2 from the initial fermentation making it's way out. Maybe it's a combination though.

restarted fermentation due to hot weather

It's a 'brew your own beer' IPA kit from The Range. OG was 1.044, it had stopped at around 1.008. It's now at 1.006, possibly closer to 1.005 (which would give 88% apparent attenuation), and doesn't appear to be finished yet. I'm not sure what the yeast was as it just said 'top fermenting ale...

restarted fermentation due to hot weather

Hi All, Only a few brews into my brewing career so still very much a noob. My current brew had settled about 10 days ago, with SG readings 3 days apart not changing. I left it until this past weekend to bottle, and to give it a bit extra time for cleanup. On about Friday, bubbling activity...
