Put your beer somewhere cool to condition......

So I have tried many different ways of getting from the end of fermentation to bottle/barrel and have as yet not really come across a definite 'proper way' and I'm hoping you guys have the experience and know how to help me out here. I have a batch of IPA about to finish fermenting, its only a...

    I'm going all electric ... but .....

I've been messing about with gas burners, big pots.. very big pots, home-made mash tuns and a bit of plumbing. It has all worked really well but its time to get a bit better and though scaling down recipes works OK, I think I will get better results doing full volume 23L brews. What with the...

    Dry Hopping Guidelines...?

I've had a go at a SMASH CITRA IPA which has been a resounding success, I cranked the grain up by 50% and got a 7.6% beer.... which is probably why it was successful thinking about it. However, what I want to do next is get a hold of dry hopping. Most of the recipes I have looked at on this...

    Coil Condensation...

So I made my wort chiller and had a play with it. I'm really surprised how efficient it is. I did notice though, quite a lot of condensation on the cold pipe above the hot liquid. Is this something to worry about, should this condensation drip into the wort?

    Buckets direct from a manufacturer

I chanced upon this while researching a build-your-own-mash-tun exercise. Hope it is of some use. The buckets are made of food grade polypropylene and supplied directly from the manufacturer in the UK, without any retailer markup. Homebrew buckets and kits | H&O Plastics

Increasing IBU on Reduced Batch Size

I'm playing around with the brewers friend calculator, a recipe book and a small batch brew. The recipe book shows an IBU of 25 for the 23L (40 pint) batch. I have used serious maths to get from 40 pints to 8 pints .. I gallon (4.5L)... by dividing by 5. Having done all of that with the...

    Reduced Boil Volume

I'm still relatively new to homebrewing and have had great success with 'Craftybrews Stove Toppers' These kits made just 5L but are full on all grain brewing... in a demijohn. I have made a Saison, English IPA and have a 'Traditional English Ale' conditioning right now I've just put on a 40pint...

Barrels Bottles, Bubble Traps and Funky Buckets

I have been researching or possibly over-thinking my re-entry into the home brewing circle. Many years ago, lest millennia somewhere I made some beer using a process that involved boiling things and making the house smell much better than the wet dog in the kitchen. I recall a big bucket with a...

    Hello from the Sunny Southwest

Yet another newbie.... I did make some beer from malt, hops and whatnot many years ago and have decided to take it back up again. Looking at what kit to get and aiming to start with a kit ... walking before I can run.
