How many litres of home brew have you made 2022.

Started homebrewing this year, in order so far I've brewed: Tropical ipa kit 15L - Tasted okay Own ambitious recipes, all with mangrove jacks dried yeast: Hazy ipa 15L - Failure imo, tasted too bitter and had a cardboard taste Belgian ale 12L - Success, tasted lovely Brown / Amber ale with...

    Grosch / kilner bottle exploded

I batch primed and stirred for a good few minutes, I'm conscious about stirring too much in case I introduce too much oxygen. Some but not all the bottles did start violently throwing yeast sediment around from the bottom of the bottle Guess I've got to be a bit more careful and maybe steer...

    Grosch / kilner bottle exploded

This probably my main concern because if it's just weak bottles I will have to either drink 9 litres this weekend or transfer to other bottles Thank you so much that's immensely helpful advice, theyve been left sealed for the day as I'm at work, hopefully when I get back the kitchen isn't a...

    Grosch / kilner bottle exploded

So do you think it wasn't done fermenting before I bottled? Maybe I was naive but assumed 1.008 was a safe bottling fg especially for this yeast but I'm still a beginner I used Google search and the average was 5g per litre for batch priming How much does you use?

    Grosch / kilner bottle exploded

I know it isn't but I was just experimenting really, the reason I used this yeast is because its supposed to give off banana and clove esters which is what I love about leffe. I used belgian ale yeast from mangrove jack before and it wasn't what I was looking for... So do you reckon it maybe...

    Grosch / kilner bottle exploded

Hi all, I tried a small bottle of my leffe clone last night and when I opened it it gushed out everywhere and threw up all the yeast on the bottom, whatever foam was left tasted lovely once settled though. I moved the other bottles into my spare room, went to bed and at 5am I heard a loud bang...

    Messed up big time

How long does everyone think i should leave it until I check the FG again? I'm thinking a week tops? I added 85g of white sugar to a 17L batch My main concern is exposure to air since my fermenter doesn't have a tap unfortunately, it's on my list of things to buy After all this I was thinking...

    Messed up big time

Ouch! Guess I didn't cause myself any physical pain so that's a bonus! I can see already that the bucket has swelled so I think the yeast has woken up from the priming sugar and agitation caused by me. I sanitised everything thoroughly before bottling so I'm just hoping the exposure to air...

    Messed up big time

    Messed up big time

It is a heavily hopped hazy ipa 😔 it's my own recipe I came up with just winging it to be honest. I feel so stupid but I'm just using this as a learning curve, I certainly won't be making the same mistake again The recipe was

    First ever Rosé wine

I'm doing my first Rose too, how will you carbonate yours? I don't know if it's the same as beer and was wondering what the process might be or how much priming sugar

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

My first homebrew, all grain from a tropical ipa kit I got about 2 years ago 😅 turned out a lot better than I thought it would

    First yeast starter for tomorrow

Ok starter it is! Got my light dme today too and I've almost drank my first batch of beer so time to get brewing!

    First yeast starter for tomorrow

Hmmm I see, well I've attached two photos of what I harvested, not much at all I don't think. That's a two pence piece next to it for comparison, it was harvested a couple of weeks ago and kept in the fridge

    First yeast starter for tomorrow

Hmm I might just buy some dme to make life a little easier, it's not much yeast at the bottom of a very small pickle jar so I'm guessing I would need a starter for a 18litre batch?

    First yeast starter for tomorrow

Hi all, This has most likely been covered previously on the forum so apologies but I searched for a bit and couldn't find a question similar. I'm a newbie so be gentle with me 😂 I bottled my first beer on the 18th a few weeks back and also harvested/cleaned some yeast from the stuff at the...

    First wine

For carbonation can I not do it the beer bottling way ie add 5g of sugar per litre to the whole batch then bottle after fermentation has finished? Or is that what ferment dry means? Sorry if I'm being stupid I don't know all the lingo yet 😂 So how much bigger do you think I can do?
