Equipment For Sale LoveBrewing Spiritworks Boiler, malt pipe, insulation jacket & immersion chiller

Sorry, was panicing because I thought my kettle had given up the ghost but I took it apart at lunchtime and was able to fix it. Also Chesterfield is a long way from me anyway :D

    Cream Ale - Recipe

I've had Cream Ale on my 'styles to try' list for a while so I've saved your recipe for next summer when this sort of beer will be ideal. Thanks!

Diastatic power of extra pale maris otter

I've been using Crisp Clear Choice extra pale as my default base malt for a while and had no issues. Have you double checked the Brewfather entry actually matches the spec from the maltster?

    Elderflower Sainson with Cordial

I brewed this yesterday, adding the cordial in the ferementer because I completely forgot to add it during the boil. The wort tasted quite elderflowery so hopefully that will carry over. For some reason the OG was a whopping 0.009 points higher than expected - 89% vs expected 75% efficiency -...

    Elderflower Sainson with Cordial

Yeah may as well give it a crack!

    Elderflower Sainson with Cordial

I have an urge to make an Elderflower Saison and don't want to wait for the trees to bloom. My idea is to add 1 litre (2 bottles) of Bottlegreen Elderflower cordial at the end of the boil. The recipe is attached. I'm out of pale malt so the recipe is not exactly how I would make a saison...

    Harlequin & Most Hops

I've got a Möst single hop Pale Ale on tap at the moment. I like it, but it's not what it's being sold as. Like Olicana I find it has a dominant 'spicyness' (maybe the herbal tea flavour little_wings describes, I'm **** as describing taste) but better than Olicana because the spicyness is...

Anyone made a home made kegerator?

I have 3 taps on my door and don't have this issue, but then I leave slack in mine and let than hang rather than routing them tightly. I also use comparatively short lengths of 3/16 rather than many feet of 5/16. I suggest looking at kits like these from BrewKegTap if you're a beginner as you'll...

    Klarstein Maischfest and Mashing

Funny you mention that, my PC is watercooled but with chromed copper tubes and elbow fittings. I have done it with copper pipe and own a pipe bender but I'm not sure where to get soft 12mm copper tube at the moment. Stuff off ebay often turns out to bend very poorly and I've moved away from the...

    Spunding valve ruined (BlowTie 2)?

I don't think it was the liquid that screwed it so much as the extreme pressure. It took me all afternoon gradually releasing it. The guage is definitely borked as known 10 psi sends it off the scale now. Oh well, lesson learnt :)

    Klarstein Maischfest and Mashing

This is very similar to how I've been using mine. The silicone gets very soft, I've had problems with kinking on bends though I'm trying to do a tighter loop than you I think. I've ordered some 16mm ID reinforced tubing to see I can sqeeze that round the outside to reinforce it. Ultimately bent...

    Spunding valve ruined (BlowTie 2)?

So, I've been an idiot. I just got a spunding valve to pressure ferment in a corny keg and in preparation I brewed a batch on sunday expecting it to arrive yesterday. In my enthusiasm and haste trying to put it on between arranging children's Teams meetings I forgot to ensure the keg was...

    I it generally cheaper

One of my motivations when starting was to save money and to not have to go to the shop for beer all the time. Once I started I realised that actually the biggest benefit is that I get to brew and drinks styles that I barely knew existed and certainly never could have bought anywhere, like my...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

It's the sort of feature that would be pretty easy to add I would have thought, with most of the work actually being exposing it to the config UI. If someone puts in a pull request they may well accept it so I wouldn't give up hope, some coder might want it themselves. Like others I don't...

    All in one - vs - 3v?

Shiny AIOs are tempting but I'd be suprised if switching from my bodgy electric boiler BIAB setup would make any different to my beer quality. I have consistent 75% efficiency and I think the difference it could make in mashing/boiling would be miniscule in compared to recipe, yeast choice...

    Slow RO

I am not an expert in this at all but from when I looked at it (and tried it with a smaller system) the conclusion was that RO systems don't work very well with hard water without a softening stage first.

Stainless Steel Fermenter to fit in under counter fridge

My SS Brewtech Brewbucket fits in my under-counter fridge, but only just! I use a blow-off tube with a bung and right angled John Guest elbow which means the ~1cm clearance is just enough. It's mildly inconvienient but heh, the fridge came with the house so I'm bloody lucky it fits. So check...

    Verdant IPA yeast

I'm not yeast expert but ASFAIK there is a difference between re-using yeast from a brew and saving some yeast from a starter in terms of preserving the original character.

    Pump needed to whirlpool

I got one recently and used it only once but that sounds like a faulty pump to me, it should required barely any pressure to push liquid through the pipe.
