    Quick and Easy Rhubarb Cider

Opened a bottle of this today. The initial rhubarb flavour comes through quite strongly, but afterwards seems to mellow and it turns into a good flavoured cider. Overall, it's very drinkable but quite strong! Next time I'll probably reduce the sugar content...Consume with caution!

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

First taste of my 2020 rhubarb and quince wine. Turned out very well!

    Quick and Easy Rhubarb Cider

Decided to use up some leftover rhubarb by adding it to Cider. No real plan or recipe here, just making it up as I go along. So far I have: Apple juice (Lidl, from concentrate) 400g rhubarb, previously chopped and frozen, boiled in just enough water to cover for about 20 minutes, then strained...

    Cucumber wine recipe

Cucumber and mint sounds interesting. I grew cucumbers in a tub this year and had more than I knew what to do with! There is also a mint bush attempting to expand beyond the border so using a load would help turn the tide of the Battle of the Veg Plot.

    Geordie 'Yorkshire Bitter' Success

It's how I described it to my dad when I offered him a pint anyway! My thinking is if John Smiths was made properly this is what it would taste like.

    Geordie 'Yorkshire Bitter' Success

Drinking a pint of this right now. I had 250g each of light and dark DME left over from the last Coopers brew, so made up this kit with that plus 500g of ordinary sugar. Inexpensive to make and turned out alright! Vaguely resembling a better John Smiths.

Brew monk eu to uk adapter?

Adapters are fine for temporary/travel purposes, but you really need a proper UK plug on it. UK and EU electrical standards are basically the same, so providing you can wire a plug properly, buy one, chop the Schuko plug off and fit it. Use a 13A fuse.

    Rhubarb Cider

I've got a load of rhubarb in the freezer out of my uncle's garden from last year that needs using up (new fridge on the way soon). I've got a gallon of wine fermenting away in the cupboard which is fine, but we also like cider. So I was thinking of brewing up an apple/rhubarb mix of some sort...

    Started a Coopers kit

Drew off half a pint to test it tonight. Now on the second half :beer1:nice malty flavour, not too bitter, decent colour too. Will make it again!

    Can opener

Can opener part of a decent Swiss army knife always does the job for me. I'm left-handed so find them less hassle and easier!

    Started a Coopers kit

Well it's in the barrel :D Transferred the beer from my old boots keg into the new one this afternoon. First sample shows promise! Flat as anything but tastes like beeracheers.

    Started a Coopers kit

It's in a warm corner of the kitchen! That's all I've done for previous brews and its worked out alright. Means I can keep an eye on it for any eruptions or other bad things happening.

    S30 cap leaking...

Looks like I've fixed it. The overpressure release seal wasn't quite seated properly- refitted it and re-gassed the barrel and all seems well so far. athumb..

    Carrot whiskey

If we make wine from carrots, surely it's more brandy than whiskey? As it's relatively low alcohol, maybe we should settle on carrot Schnapps.

What is the best beer you have brewed

Brewed up a Coopers IPA kit a while back which turned out well. We put it in a barrel and it didn't stay there long! As to non-kit brews, I followed a recipe for mild ale in an old "Home Booze" book (H.E.Bravery) which was very good. I made 2 gallons of it twice and would do again. I also made...

    S30 cap leaking...

Got a new pressure barrel which is fitted with a S30 cap for the small CO2 bulbs. Alas, it seems to have a leak somewhere- very little gas seems to stay atop my cider. I've greased every joint and seal, but it seems to be coming from the safety valve on the side. I previously had an ancient...

    Coventry brewery- Est. 2007

Pete here :D I've been brewing various things since I had a beer kit for a birthday present over 10 years ago. Since then I've made various malt-extract beers, cider from juice and more recently wine-type concoctions. Currently on the go is a cider kit (in the barrel) home-grown pumpkin wine...
