    Conditioning in demijohns

I just started drinking my first brew yesterday, and while I'm really happy with the appearance and over the moon with the taste, there's a few things bugging me. Initially and once a sparklet was used I'm finding it hard to pour due to the froth. I want to have the co2 in there to keep the...

How long will ale last in a plastic pressure barrel?

Hiya Dunfie, yes I primed both brews so far and one will be ready to drink in a week or so. When you say it should last months, does this mean when I've started drinking it too? The guy in the homebrew shop told me to introduce a co2 bomb about every five pints to keep it fresh. Sounds a bit...

    Over Pressure Problem

Cheers mate, got some CO2 so that shouldn't be a prob. I'm interested to know what sort of lifespan you got out of the Wherry since it's my first kegged beer? Got another batch of Brewmaster Velvet Stout on the go with extra dark malt and some treacle as per one of the other guys recipes. I...

    Over Pressure Problem

It's on it's second week of clearing in my keg. Looking at leaving it a month, just hope it settles down and I don't need to keep releasing the pressure for the next 2 weeks.

    Over Pressure Problem

I transferred my Wherry to my barrel last week and since then I've had to crack the top seal twice to let the pressure out. I noticed that even tho I had vaselined the o ring and threads and screwed the tap as tight as I could, I was getting a small bleed of ale from around the seal. Once I've...

    New Brewer with Fermenter Questions

Cheers mate, Cloudy beer wouldn't worry me. When you see pics of the yeast dropping out with finings and having that residue in the glass or keg that would be alot more of putting to me.

    New Brewer with Fermenter Questions

Hi Steve I notice you said that the Woodfordes Wherry takes an age to clear. I've just done my first brew using WW would you suggest using Finings to clear it in the keg? Cheers

    Nearly Time To Keg

Tested my FG today and it's sitting at 1.010, so if it's the same tomorrow I'll get cracking on getting in to the keg. Just a few quick questions tho: Should I add the CO2 once it's kegged or should I leave it the four weeks, taste it then do it? And does the priming sugar make any difference...

Brewmaster Irish stout + Black Treacle

Sounds great fella, did you use the treacle as a primer in a keg or was it added at primary. Cheers

How to make a premium beer kit, from start to finish.

Thanks Tubby, so I can get quite a long shelf life then if I keep it topped up with CO2. Not that it will be in there any more than a couple of weeks. :drink: How often would I need to top up once I've drawn beer from it? Sorry for the newb questions but I'm so used to getting 4-5 days from my...

    First Brew

No water in the airlock, it's a kit plastic one where the lid sits on top in like the reservoir bit. Once its off you have the hole right in to the FV. Although now I think that this was a silly question as I see some people take the lids off and check their yeast head and some just use a solid...

How to make a premium beer kit, from start to finish.

Fantastic guide mate, answered most of the Newb questions I had. Started my first kit of last night and have one or two points I'm not sure on. 1 - When Syphoning into a keg, is there any tips how to keep the open end up out of the sediment so it doesn't pull too much through to the keg. 2 -...

    First Brew

Morning, last night I started my first ever kit brew of Woodfordes Wherry, and I think everything went ok. However when I got up this morning the escaping CO2 had blown the little plastic lid of the airlock. Will this do any damage or would the escaping CO2 have prevented any air getting in to...
