You're stuck in quarantine with only one beer

I'd have to go with Thornbridge Jaipur. Although it isn't my favourite beer, it isn't even my favourite beer from Thornbridge, I never seem to tire of them. When my palette is shot from drinking my third barrel aged fruited sour or double chocolate peanut butter biscuit imperial porter, I go to...

ChemSan - any good for the C Virus

I think the answer is yes. It isn't very good against viruses all it has going for it is a low pH. (I'm assuming starsan and chemsan are interchangeable). You need a pH of below 3.6 to envelope the virus. Starsan/chemsan is 3.5. Looks like it would need a contact time of about 5 min for a 100...

Tea / Spice infuser for hops ?

I have one similar to these. Can hold some hops but probably not enough for some of the current NEIPA craze. Think I could get about 100 g of pellets into it. Otherwise great , also use half of it to catch grain when I circulate wort during mashing...

    Trub yeast re-use

This is what I have done so far as well, and see no reason to try deal with harvesting from fermenter now.

    Trub yeast re-use

I agree 100% if you are using a simple pack of dry yeast (which I believe the OP was), however I have a kettle sour planned with OYL-605 (£8ish) and then fermented with WLP644 also (£8ish). I will def be looking to reuse/save from this for reducing future costs.

When Going Weird, Go All In

Final Update on this beer. I am really happy with how this project turned out. All that is left is for it to be drank, and ponder on improvements. The beer never cleared up all the way however it ended with a nice colour and clarity. The head doesn't last very long and definitely isn't...

When Going Weird, Go All In

A second to last update on this. After four days of cold crash at 4 °C, the beer cleared up a little however is definitely still not clear. I think it still looks quite nice though so I'm happy with this. It is a nice straw colour, similar to a berlinner weisse I would say. We bottled about...

    Is my beer ruined!?

If you have the space and spare bottles keep them. Give them a week or two and open one up. If it smells like chlorine then they're probably not gonna be very good, also a chance that the sanitiser will kill your priming yeast. So if flat in a week and smelling like chlorine give them a toss.

When Going Weird, Go All In

Update on fermentation of this brew. I thought I might see a bit more lag than normal with SAF-US05 considering the low pH. However, after about 12 hours I started to see the airlock bubbling, so the yeast seemed to be handling the pH just fine. The beer has fermented just fine and is now...

Thanks for this! It was an incredible article, I love the level of science he goes to, to figure out whats going on with his beers.
