Ferm fridge - would this work?

That would be ideal. Just waiting for one to appear in the right price range.

Ferm fridge - would this work?

Nice, thanks :) I wasn't sure whether the freezer section would work as a separate FV cabinet, so I've always ignored the fridge freezers that come up in preference of under counter fridges, but if they can both be used separately then that's a whole different ball game.

Ferm fridge - would this work?

This just popped up on ebay. It's sold as not working as it does not retain cold. Would this work with an STC-1000 controlling the temperature? I do appreciate that is quite vague with the details, but currently that's all I have. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... SS:GB:3160

    70l or 100l Shiny pots?

Not heard of Powell Brewing before. Looks like great stuff, might consider them for my upgrade, albeit not sold on being powered by gas.

    Ball valves

A new pub in Cardiff serves beer from that outdoor style tap... Good to know about the strippable parts, that does make a lot of sense. This would be pre-boil, specifically on the mash tun I already have one on my boiler/HLT. I plan to go completely shiny over the coming years, and when I do...

    Ball valves

Nice thanks. That's still slightly more than I was hoping to spend for what will hopefully be a temporary thing.

    Ball valves

Hi all, I'm looking to replace the tap on my coolbox mash tun with a ball valve type, so that I can get some silicon hose on the end. I'm a bit confused with the difference between the different products on offer. Screwfix have cheap ball valves that look suitable, (please ignore fitting size...

To chill or not to chill

Not at all! I'm just slightly playing Devil's advocate and saying that I do appreciate the fact that every single pint of the big boys stuff tastes the same, and that's some next level brewery control.

To chill or not to chill

A friend of mine works in the labs at InBev in Magor where they make Tennents, Stella, Budweiser and Boddingtons. We rib him for making shitty beers, but he always remains steadfast and proud that the beer they make is the same, pint after pint. You have to agree to a certain extent, with most...

    Coffee wine?

I never had much luck with my coffee wine and it went down the sink after never fermenting. I used either GV4 or GV5, I can't quite remember. I'll likely have another go one day though.

AG #14 - Daximus Galaximus Pale Ale

1.006 after 7 days, tasted deliciously hoppy, very bitter. At 73 IBU I'm not surprised. Added another 25g Galaxy in as dry hops. Chucked them in without a bag this time. After the photo I gave them a gentle stir to try and get them to absorb some fluid. I wanted to crumble them up, but there...

    Ruby beer EBC

    Thanks Rob, that's brilliant info.

    Ruby beer EBC

I'm looking to brew a ruby beer for a local competition. I don't know much about that style of beer, perhaps the only ruby that I know about is Hobgoblin. Is there a specific EBC range that defines a Ruby? If so I can start playing around with recipes in Beersmith over the weekend and see if I...

Coffee a new adventure for me

Actually scratch that, the aeropress seems like a bit of a PITA for a work cuppa. Might better off with a standard cafetiere :)

Coffee a new adventure for me

By the way, my comment about snob was tongue in cheek, although I'm positive coffee snobbery does actually exist. Very tempted by the aeropress machine!

    Brewday efficiency

OK, so it looks like people don't worry too much about taking a pre-boil gravity reading or volume check then? Interesting. I also thought that ALL the beer would need the entire boil time, but I guess not. Plus yes, a separate boiler is definitely on the list for when I upgrade. Thanks guys...

Coffee a new adventure for me

What do you coffee guys do for work? I'm thinking about getting a single serve cafetiere for my office, but with everyone else on instant I don't want to be the snob of the office ;)

FAO Gray's Alchemy - picture framing question

Excellent, thanks. It's of no value, I just don't particularly want to ruin it by getting it wet. All that sounds perfect, thank you.
