Winebuddy, 7 day Merlot kit Review

I have racked this wine into 4 dj's too. Yesterday I looked at it and it is extremely clear, a friend of mine wants a dj of it bottling for the weekend so I filtered it all. It all went through very well, hardly any gunk collected at all. So whilst filtering it I had a little taste and in all...

Ritchies On The Rocks, Blueberry Review

One month later and I have opened a bottle, it really is lovely. Not quite as strong fruit flavour as Kopparberg but sitll really good. I prefer this one to the Raspberry and Lime and will definately do it again. Oh and I think giving it a good stir before I bottled it got rid of most of the...

Ritchies On The Rocks, Raspberry and Lime Review

Hi, mine had an eggy smell to it and it has been made around 3 months now. I opened a bottle last night and I recon its just perfect now. No eggy smell what so ever. Its smooth refreshing and very tasty. Not quite as strong fruit flavour as Kopparberg but is still a fab drink. The blueberry I...

Winebuddy, 7 day Merlot kit Review

I have a cab sav just clearing. Like Moley I only got it because it was £11 in Tesco. I brewed it 2L short so have 20L before adding the flavour pouch I had a little taste as I was not sure of the amount of glycerine they contain. It was very thin so I added half of it, still thin so I put the...

I'm a big fan of red wine, what sort of quality is in a kit?

Well another thing to think about is..... sampling, most of them taste ok when you are bottling. So you will get an idea of what you do and dont like. If you make 20 bottles and you hate it then you have wasted money too. Let us know what you have chosen and what you think of it too. :D

I'm a big fan of red wine, what sort of quality is in a kit?

I use the Beaverdale kits and red wine is my tipple. The ones I have made are Merlot (fairly average to me, but its not my favourite red wine) Chateau du roi (my absolute favourite, fruity, not real dry, smooth) Cab sav (fruity, blackcurrant flavour very prominent, dry) Shiraz ( dry, smooth...

    Why ferment on the pulp?

Andy you could take a sample out of the bucket you are fermenting in. I dont put the yeast in until it has finished in the bucket and is transfered to the dj to ferment so at that point I take the OG. Oh and I am central Hull

hi from another Hullarian! Not sure is the answer to your question but I have done both and the fermenting on the pulp method produced the nicest flavoured and cleares wine.

on the rocks cider pear help

HI, I only put half a tsp into each bottle. I am not too keen on it being really fizzy but to be honest it was fizzier than I had even anticipated so it should be enough. How long did you leave it in the warmer temp for after adding sugar? I left mine in room temp for a week then have it...

    need some help

Shaun, could you keep them in the DJ until you are ready to drink, maybe bottling one dj at a time? That way it wouldnt be in plastic for too long.

another rocks mixed berry cider kit question - the smell ?

The raspberry and lime kit didnt smell at all, it was pleasant all of the way through. The blueberry kit was rank but when I had racked it and added the flavouring I gave it a real good stir and the smell did go. I think it does smell worse if it is fermented in warmer termeratures (ie summer)

rocks mixed berry cider kit priming sugar ?

I used half a tsp of sugar to each pint and it was absolutely fine. I am not a massive fizzy lover but like a gentle fizz so that is what worked for me. Not done the berry kit yet but the blueberry one and the raspberry and lime are both really good.

Ritchies On The Rocks, Blueberry Review

I bottled this up 2 days ago. Like the Lime and raspberry it fermented very easily. Only issue I have had with this one is the sulphur smell. I dont think it is the kit though, I think if its warm this tends to happen. I gave it a right good stirring when I added the flavour sachet and lots of...

    wine kit advice

Beaverdale make a couple of Rose type wines in 6 bottle kits. Personally I dont like them, they are strong in flavour more like zinfandel. It depends what your taste is. I like the Solomon Grundy rose. Its light and not too strong. Not sure if they do it in 6 bottles though. I always make 30

Newbie to teabag wines..Can you confirm the final process?

This all seems fine but I would ferment down to completely dry, To back sweeten, disolve 100g sugar in a little bit of hot water. When it is cooled add a little at a time to the gallon to your desired taste. What flavour are you doing? I like the strawberry and mango or blackcurrant the best...

Ritchies On The Rocks, Raspberry and Lime Review

I made this a few weeks ago. It fermented exactly as the instructions stated. Very easy to brew. It has a little flavour sachet to add at the end. First impressions when it was first brewd was, tasty, sweet, full of flavour and clear. If you want a Kopparberg clone then this is the one you...

    On the rocks

Cider is looking good The bottles have lots of pressure so it will be lovely and fizzy. Also it is almost clear. A couple more days at room temp then I am going to cool them, I reckon they will be clear enough to start drinking real soon. What a simple, quick kit to make. Defiantely doing it...
