first brewing kit and im stuck help

Leaving the beer on the trub (the sediment at the bottom of the fermentor) can cause soapy flavors as the yeast may start to consume the trub. I've never experienced this problem and I don't think just because the beer is left for 3 weeks on the trub that this is always the result. Have a look...

AG #2 ESB this weekend - comments please?

Not that technical really and I like trying to find out what malt does what and how the hops will affect things! Although I always feel a bit on edge until I've tasted the beer, there's always a little voice in the back of your head saying "it might not taste too good"! Do you get an ingrediant...

    BIAB sparge?

As the process is a fairly lengthy one (seems to take me about 6 hours ish) Any gravity readings I want, I take about 100ml and let it cool down before using the hydrometer. Obviously it's too late to alter anything if the gravity reading isn't what I expected, but at the moment I'm just using...

    Fermenting temperature help!

If you can't stand them in a bath of cold water then wrapping them in a wet towel is the next best way to cool them.

    BIAB sparge?

I second this. Just looked at my last brew and end of boil efficiency was 88%, efficiency into fermentor was 81.9%. Try using the BIABacus at the biabrewer website for your next brew. Erl :drink:

Mikey G's First Brew (Irish Stout) w/ Pics

Sorry Mikey I misread your first post and somehow my eyes didn't acknowledge that you had written 'Coopers Irish Stout". So my suggestion of adding hops was not really called for! Once you've got a few brews done and dusted you can start tinkering if you feel the need! erl :drink:

Mikey G's First Brew (Irish Stout) w/ Pics

Congrats on your first brew pics look good! :thumb: Although I think you could have added some hops to it? Is the dark spray malt hopped or not? The carbonation drops are fine for your stout or you could just use normal sugar? I think a teaspoon of sugar in a 500ml bottle is approx...
