    Woodfordes Wherry Review

I recently had some Wherry in bottles that I'd left hidden in the garage for 12 months, it was beautiful. It's amazing how much it had changed from the ones I tried at 3 and 6 months. Smooth, clear, delicate and an amazing head that stayed until the bottom of the glass. I'm gutted they're...

    Stout fountain

 Put on a Coopers Stout, made with 1kg of Dark Malt, last night and today it's practically alive. The aquatic heater is out of the tray and the FV left in cold water to keep it below 24C and its still struggling to keep cool enough. The airlock has now left the FV and there is a...

    Anyone know their bikes ?

Sorry, don't know a thing about the whole hybrid bike type thing. I've just recently bought one of these: http://www.whytebikes.com/2012/bike_page.php?ModNo=W-1-023-12 In fact, I've spent the morning out on it around local woodland and stream beds. Great fun. Great bike. Hard work on the...

    Feck Test!

Yeah, I blame that on SWMBO for putting the glass through the dishwasher...though the beer gods struck mid-wash when the outlet blocked and flooded the kitchen. Fortunately I was out so she had to mop up the mess.

    Feck Test!

 Jeez, how big is that pic? It looks like a Dj rather than a pint glass. Oh well, can't change it now. Its taken me a good 20 minutes figuring out how to put that pic up. Must try harder in future.

    Feck Test!

Now its out of the garage and not suffering the chill haze Wherry#1 is looking a lot better. Only 3 weeks in the barrel so far and I know it will get better, but I admit to having not quite caught onto the whole patience thing yet. iPhone camera is **** too.

    NEXT BREW WHAT TO DO

Everybody raves about the Coopers Stout. I took the advise and got that and dark spraymalt to replace the sugar which I intend to brew tomorrow. Can't say how it will be but hoping for good results.

    Woodfordes Wherry Review

Brewed a Wherry at the beginning of the year, marking my long overdue return to homebrewing. Found the whole process to be very easy and fool proof and fortunately I didn't suffer the stuck fermentation that a lot of people do. 2 cans, a sachet of yeast and instructions on the box, no sugar...

    Kit reviews

Although I think the search facility is more than adequate for this purpose I do think that a seperate section for kit reviews/specific kit chat would be a bit of fun. Besides, the AG boys have got their own recipes section. Might just keep all us newbies in a controllable place too, think...

    Homebrew for holidays?

A lot would depend on how you drive I suppose ;) I'm glad someone asked this as I was thinking about taking some with me on our family holiday.

    TC how to

I've got a demi-john of TC on the go at the moment. Thought I would try it out and I have to say I'm very excited. I feel like a big kid waiting for Christmas and love watching how it fizzes so much. I just used cheapo apple juice, a mug of black tea and Youngs super wine yeast compound...

How many gallons of homebrew in 2012?

Between the Wherry, Lager and turbo cider test batch I'll add 11 gallons to the total. 616 gallons.

New Brewer, first brew - help!

Wherry is known for stuck fermentation. Do a search and you'll get loads of info on it and how to get it going again. It's not the end of the world don't don't panic just yet. You do need to check the gravity though. :thumb:

    Keeping the FV warm.

    Yup, sure is. :thumb:

    Keeping the FV warm.

My aquarium heater is the £10 jobbie from Argos. Works a treat in a low water bath utilising a plastic under bed storage box with 3-4 inches water in.

Pay day is finally here :-)

100% vouch for these guys. Cheaper than the competition and remarkably quick delivery too. In fact I'm ordering another one of these in the next day or two, seeing as I want another barrel and FV and by the time you add the cost of the bits up then this set becomes a wise choice. And before...

Your Top Tip for a New Home Brewer ...

Don't try and hide anything from the mrs, she may get new shoes past you but mark my words she'll spot that new bit of kit a mile away. It's like they're psychic or something. :nono:

    What do you ride?

Exactly, men's territory, not for women. That and the loft....

    What do you ride?

I sold my TL1000R the year before last; sold it after a lad I knew tried bench-pressing an oncoming motor on his Blade  . I'm tempted to get another bike but I'm struggling with the moral decision :wha: I would love an old Bandit though, something I can spend more time in the garage...

    Woodfordes kit - slow starter?

Re the aquarium heater; stick the FV in a plastic storage box and fill the bottom 3-4 inches with water and stick the heater in there, like sitting the FV in a water bath. Its much easier to adjust the temp that way without having to go into your brew to do it, and less to sterilise. I do this...
