    Sugar Puff Beer

Love the sound of this! Just wondering, I've just aquired a 20L Burco Boiler, wondering if I could simply use that for the boil stage of this brew? Cheers!

Hand pull and a pressure barrel.

Cheers for the replies guys. So, are we talking about having a fitting in place of the normal tap, that would then connect to the beer line? Barrel on the floor underneath the BE which would be mounted on the bench? And then a method of maintaining pressure in the keg, I can see various ways of...

Hand pull and a pressure barrel.

Hi all. Just wondering really. I've got a pressure barrel that needs refurbishing (new seals and tap needed). I rarely have the need to use this and my other barrel at the same time so could sacrifice it for a project. Wondering if I could hook it up to a hand pull / beer engine type setup...

There have been problems reported with what we would consider standard characters.

Something for the land rover fans!

I'm hoping that they haven't diluted the Disco's off road and "do anything" abilities. Early reports are Nissan are doing exactly that with the new x trail so hoping Land Rover don't forget what an awesome car the disco has always been. Currently hoping I can swing a move of base nearer home so...

    Does anyone filter their water?

I use bottled water. Not sure how much our tap water would affect things but i've never had a problem with bottled water. It's cheap but also convienient when brewing.

What should I do with unwanted Woodfordes Wherry Kits

My thought would be based around if you think they owe you anything money wise. If they do then flog them. If not then keep them for parties/camping trip/bbq etc. Or just for experimenting. I've got a load of kits i picked up cheap i'm using for just that, they only cost a couple of quid each so...

    Best priced kits

Happy to be corrected but i've not found a mail order site that can compete with local shops once you factor in p&p. Have you checked out your LHBS, Tesco or Wilkinson?

The 'end' of Widows XP - New PC time!

On the storage front you could just use a USB external drive for backup. Something else that's coming down in prices is NAS boxes. You plug them into your home router (I'm currently using a BT Homehub and was with Sky before that for example), do a bit of config and you have a networked hard...

    Home brew for vegetarians

Cheers again guys. I'll do some checking with the manufacturers but looking like the finings are the bug thing to watch out for? Oh well worst case scenario i will have to drink some stock and brew some more with verified ingridients lol.

    Stout kit recommendations

I'm loving the St.Peters cream stout that i've brewed and am now drinking.

Tetely cask in one of my local spoons pubs

Whilst there is the argument that chain pubs are a threat to smaller pubs, JDW are extremely competitive on price. The brutal truth is that if I wanted a couple of pints out I would probably go to JDW because they are 1) cheap and 2) tend to have a really good selection of cask ales rather than...

    renewing an old beer engine!

Oooh pictures please and updates, this is a tread I would be interested in following. If I get a beer engine its likely to be a fixer upper (due to cost). Cheers!

My Wilko Hoppy Copper Bitter experiment.

I've used this kit as a basis for a couple of festive brews. I've fermented it then added fruit and spices for a secondary fermentation. If i do another this year I will probably dry hop as well.

    granulated sugar UK

I've used granulated sugar both tate & lyle and supermarket own brands with both wine and beer kits (including geordie) and have not noticed and differences. Differences have occurred when I used different types of sugar (eg: muscavado in my stout). I'm taking a guess here but have you...
