    Cardiff Home brew shop

I have used this shop several times, and the service is excellent. I called around a few days ago to find it closed, with a sign in the window saying that after a car had crashed though the front window, that had lost most of their stock and that they would be closed until the insurance sorts...

    First Woodforde's Wherry

you really can't go wrong with those 2 can kits, and Wherry is one of the best. Keeping it simple is the key.

    Peter's IPA

I ended up with an FG of 1006. using the Coopers calculation from their kits: (1054-1006)/7.46 = 6.43% +0.5 for priming = 6.93% I opened a 2 litre bottle last night, you could smell the hops at arms length. and after 4 pints, i think i'll call it Memories, as i have no recollection of going...

I no longer trust the calcs on here

0.13% not sure it it is worth getting worked up over. the calc i use is (OG - FG) /7.46 (1040 - 1010)/7.46 = 4.02% + 0.5% for priming. which is even worse, but the method Coopers use. there are many methods, and all will get you in the ball park.

brew length was 23 litres all 100grms of challenger were bittering, and the boil time was 1 hour (as per the recipe). should i have gone more 50/50 or 60/40 on the malt?

    John Bull IPA

I've done the John Bull IPA several times now, usually with Muntons Brew enhancer, though i have added 250g demarera suger to it, and primed 1/2 with white sugar and 1/2 with demarera or even dextrose. i only had one bad brew, and that was an yeast infection, it tasted of TCP! i have to be...

Buffalo 40L boiler Ball Valve fitting

can you post up a photo of the inside of the tank please, and the tap. as i'm thinking of a 15mm (1/2") tank connector, or 22mm (3/4") if single skinned and you are handy with a drill and hole saw, with a short peice of copper and the lever ball valve. you may have to change the washers on the...

    Peter's IPA

After 12 months of brewing from kits, i finally moved up a level, not quite an AG brew yet, as it used spray maly and dextrose. the basic recipe: 4.5kg pale malt extract (i used 1.5kgs of spray malt & 3 kgs of dextrose) 250g crystal malt Bittering hops - 100g Challenger Aroma: 50g Cascade...

    I ask for Forgiveness.

nowt wrong with that, proper imported beers can be quite interesting, and a great accompniment to a the associated meal. at least you didn't opt for John Smiths, or Carling. then you would probably find youself banned from the internet, not just a homebrew forum.

    Dead Wherry? :(

i've only done wherry once, it was a christmas present. i don't have the luxury of a barrel, i just bottle mine, in either 1 pint glass or 2 litre pop bottles, i left it for a few weeks before drinking, and it came out very good. would the taste you have be a antiseptic/tcp/root beer taste...

    Coopers Cerveza Review

just opened a couple of bottles of this, not really a lager person, well, that's putting it politely. however, this stuff is rather good, 1 used 1kg of coopers enhancer, and 250g of demarera in the FV with a 23 litre brew. then primed with 1tsp of granulated, as i found demarera, doesn't gas as...

    Relocating with a cat!

we moved 2 80 miles, Layla, a 2 kilo siamese spent the journey in a cat box without making any noise. Dylan, her 1 stone son, spnt the whole journey in a large dog cage, on the front seat of my transit. he didn't really enjoy the journey, but was quiet thoughout. i wouldn't recomend drugging an...
