    Ispindel Battery Life

I’m not sure it is - that could well be the cause of it. If I was gonna take a punt I’d guess that green led might be on the accelerometer board? If so there’s a note to remove the resistor that’s associated with it in the iSpindel documentation, but it’s not super clear and easy to miss...

Has anybody already started to have problems with CO2 supply or price hikes

I'm still waiting on a replacement cylinder from Install Oil near me in Edinburgh... Called on Thurs 30th and they said they could do one for the following Wednesday. Called to confirm on the day and they didn't get a delivery, maybe Monday (today). Called today, and it might be Wednesday... No...

Borosilicate Glass Erlenmeyer flasks - good prices and indicated quality

I got a couple of 2L flasks from this eBay seller REX sientific | eBay Stores and can’t fault them. The difference in price between one and two was minimal and it looks the same for 3L flasks too. £23 for one, £30 for two, delivered.

Suggestions for burn out / disinterest

Find someone local and do a joint brew day? Even a non-brewer maybe - I’ve had fun showing my neighbour how it’s done (given he usually gets some of the fruit of the labours). Getting him to stick around for the washing up after has proved a non starter so far though 🙄

    Sodastream gas for serving

If the beer is already carbed, then I think dispensing is just a matter of having enough CO2 to displace the beer in the kegs, right? Sticking some figures into this: Ideal Gas Law Calculator 76 litres of gas to displace the beer, at 15psi and 8°C (guessing on those two) is 3.36242 moles of...

    Dry Omega Lutra Kveik

Yeah, I’m just starting to get my head around yeast reuse generally, will give that a look for the future, thanks.

    Fermzilla Allrounder Jacket

Yeah, it sits like that for the full time in there. When it's done I just rotate it to get access to the disconnects, take off the spunding valve, then hook up gas and a transfer hose and pressure transfer to the keg.

    Dry Omega Lutra Kveik

Saw this posted on Reddit, thought it might be of interest here. https://omegayeast.com/yeast/kveiks/dried-lutra-kveik I don’t often use liquid yeast, although I did give this one a go (and then failed to properly harvest it for reuse). If the pricing is right I can see me keeping some of this...

    1.5 kw heating element

That's going to depend on a few factors - the initial water temperature, the rate at which heat is lost from the system etc. This seems to give some idea of the maths needed - How to Calculate Time to Heat Water Assuming 15L starting from a tap temperature of 10 degrees (i.e. needs to gain 90...

    Fermzilla Allrounder Jacket

Tilting it over? Not my original idea - pretty sure I saw someone else on here suggesting it. I'm not sure I'd have thought of it myself tbh. :D

    Fermzilla Allrounder Jacket

Only just... I see Kegland have come up with some new low profile disconnects which look like they'd help. Haven't seen them in the UK or on their Aliexpress store yet though.

Which pump - March May 815 or Chugger??

I appreciate this isn't quite what you're asking (I've no experience of those pumps specifically), but if you're in that price range I can thoroughly recommend the Blichmann Riptide pump. I've had one for a while and it's solidly built and the fact you can easily strip down and reassemble the...

    Blue Moon Clone

I’ve used this orange extract in a Clockwork Tangerine clone before. If all you’re wanting is a hit of orange it might do the job. That one is dissolved in ethanol rather than oil, so it should just mix in before bottling/kegging with no problems too.

Can you mix John Guest and duotight fittings

Oh, I think I see what you’re getting at now - you’re looking at an 8mm duotight disconnect with an 8mm - 3/16 JG reducing stem? I can’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work if that’s the case. If you want to be 100% certain why not go JG all the way on the liquid side?

Can you mix John Guest and duotight fittings

Sorry, just re-read your post and I guess you’ve already looked. 🤦‍♂️ I’ve got some 3/16 for beer line rather than gas line and that uses 3/8 disconnect with a reducing stem that brings it down to 3/16, I think that’s the normal way of doing it.

Can you mix John Guest and duotight fittings

Have you looked at Kegland’s store on AliExpress? Comes from China but delivery has always been reasonably speedy when I ordered from there (~2 weeks max). I got most of my gas setup from there - disconnects, secondary regulators etc. kegland Official Store https://a.aliexpress.com/_ugtzTr

Solenoid Valves / DIY Autosparge System

That's effectively what the float switch is - a floaty bit with a low voltage magnetic reed switch inside it I've gone for the version with a 30cm shaft so it can be secured to the lid with the switch at any depth within the tun.

Solenoid Valves / DIY Autosparge System

Yeah, that would also do it. How is that adjusted for different mash volumes? If you could take a pic or point me at the product page for it that would be appreciated. My thinking with the float switch is that it can be raised or lowered into the tun to set the level a few cm above the top of...

Solenoid Valves / DIY Autosparge System

Bit of a long shot, but does anybody have experience of using solenoid valves in their brewing setup? I'm currently planning on building an autosparge system using a float switch to detect the water level in the mash tun and a solenoid valve to interrupt the water flow from the HLT when the...

Ah sorry, I did buy this from Jim. Guess the thread could be closed/deleted now?
