Equipment For Sale Burco Cygnet & fermenting fridge

For sale, ideally as a package, collected from just north of Northampton. £110 Burco 30l Cygnet complete with ball valve (original tap also included). In great condition with little use and makes an ideal BIAB mash/boil kettle or can be used for sparge water etc. Holds a rolling boil well...

    good idea !

Why not mash in your 14l pot, get the water in the other pot up to temperature and transfer the grains/bag at the end of the mash to batch sparge in the second pot. That way you'll be adding wort into the boil rather than just water?

    Large PET bottle source?

Just to update, I've ended up trialing some 3l 7up bottles. Green PET, so not brown like I'd hoped for, but better than clear. Am still keeping them in a box with the lid on to keep away from UV.

    Bent bottle mouth

Have you washed them in a dishwasher or with very hot water? PET bottles will deform above 65-70 degrees

    2kw induction 32l boil

Well I have a hose and a brush :) I'd like 20l into the FV ideally so sounds like a 2kw induction hob might struggle with the boil volume. Not sure I'm keen to spend the money needed for a Buffalo 3kw. The Burco is pretty good value for money so is looking hard to beat if a 2kw hob won't...

    2kw induction 32l boil

I think that's the way I'm erring at the moment but liked the ideas of the separate electrics and ease of cleanup. Burco probably is the sensible option

    2kw induction 32l boil

Evening all, currently weighing up options to increase my brew length from the 10l stove top to 23l into the FV. For reference I BIAB and no chill. Was all set on a 30l Burco Cygnet which is still an option, but someone suggested an induction hob and stainless steel pot. The induction and pot...

    Burco Cygnet quality?

Hmmm food for thought so thanks everyone. Sounds like the Cygnet would be ideal for what i'm after. Part of me is intrigued with an induction hob and large 35l kettle. Could have a go at brew in a bag, no chill and ferment in a kettle which would allow me to brew on a working from home...

    Burco Cygnet quality?

Will have a look at that. Also cheers Hazelwood

    Burco Cygnet quality?

Ok, well that's a lot less than I was expecting. Is 2kw ok for getting 25-27l up to a rolling boil?

    Burco Cygnet quality?

Getting a decent sized (3kw) induction hob is pretty expensive isn't it, particularly when you then throw in a big induction capable pot. I would think it would be a minimum of £200 vs £90 for the Burco

    Burco Cygnet quality?

I'm looking to progress from an 18l pot on the stove to something that can net me 20l into the FV and avoid dealing with excessive condensation in the house. Would like to keep things as cheap as possible and was wondering what the Burco Cygnet is like quality wise? It'll be getting shifted...

    Large PET bottle source?

Beer won't generally be stored long term. With young kids around plastic make more sense from a safety point of view than loads of glass bottles knocking around everywhere. Might have to search out a 3l coke bottle. Do you think the beer would go flat if it was all drunk in a night once opened?

    Large PET bottle source?

I've already got 500ml brown bottles. Am trying to reduce bottling day by using less larger capacity bottles
