Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

This beer just seems to keep changing!!! A lovely one tonight, 8 weeks in the bottle. I think it's maybe a bit sweet??? Did this happen with anyone? No bitter aftertaste (and I'm not a fan of bitter aftertastes) but I feel like it could do with it. Looks very similar to @GhostShip pic. I'm doing...

    Renamed: Andy’s Kegerator Build

From what I can see, building one seems a lot better. Malt Miller go through required things etc. Seems pretty easy too. They have a video showing you too (a few videos actually on different styles they've made). Just YouTube 'Malt Miller kegerator'...

Mangrove Jack's Juicy Session IPA is my next brew!!! I look forward to your review. I'm excited for the brew fridge now! Thanks for all the info again!!!

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

Thanks for that!!! Could I ask a couple of extra questions (sorry to carry on, I'm just eager to learn)? Your inkbird thermostat I assume also comes through the drain hole of the fridge? Do you tape it to the fermentation vessel or drop in into the brew? When you say secondary fermentation, I...

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

Ah great, I may pop another in the fridge to test! @GhostShip I saw you'd written about temperature control of your fermentation. What do you have as a set up? Thanks again for your info and review here! It got me into home-brewing!!

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

Yes, I'd agree with this. I'm getting a spare fridge in a few weeks so hopefully I can control the temperature of the fermentation better. But I'm also in no rush to drink it. So I'll wait and keep checking it to see how it changes over time. It's an okay beer at the moment, but I was hoping for...

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

Did you fridge them? How did it turn out? I'm debating to put a few in the fridge for a week or two as I have a spare shelf, so want to know if it's successful? I tried another about a fortnight ago and it didn't taste as good. Very malty and tasted of alcohol more. Hopefully that was just a...

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

Had another one tonight. Better again. Nice sweet Citra but good bitterness, still a bit of yeast but definitely less, so wait another week or two! Not cleared yet. I may put one in the fridge tomorrow for a week and compare it with one I'll put in next Thursday.

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

Totally agree. Mine was a bit yeasty still and not fully carbed. I'll try another this weekend. Do any of you know if it's worth putting bottles in fridge for about a week to help with clearing etc?

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

Okay, I gave in. Had a bottle today. Only been in bottle a week. Wasn't fully carbed (but almost). The aroma and flavour is lovely!!! Still young, you can tell. But seems like a lovely beer. Yeast still hasn't all dropped out, not clear yet, stil tasting a bit yeasty. But very promising. I...

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

This was my first brew so not sure what people use. I used my sodium percarbonate sterilising powder to clean it too. Hopefully that will be okay. I put Cwtch on today!!!! Keep me updated on this one please, I'll do the same.

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

Yes, it did taste nice already. I'm excited for it. I used the priming sugar, brought it to the boil briefly then let it cool. The mesh bag was good! The beer seemed fairly clear already. It did get very fiddly, so I lost (in total) about 2 litres. Which I need to get better at when tilting the...

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

I bottled mine this afternoon. 1.010 gravity (been fermenting 13 days). Gravity hasn't really moved in about a week. Tasted it, was a very bitter aftertaste. Did you get that? But tasted pretty good. I hope the bitter aftertaste mellows. Bottling took a while with everything. I may get another...

Busy times from home brew shops

I'll add to that @Brew2bottle Homebrew very quick in this current climate. I really like that they notify you when something's back in stock too. That's great! Love Brewing were also very good as were the Homebrew Company (in Ireland). They all really care about their customers!

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

I'm sure it's still fermenting. I genuinely haven't seen a bubble out of mine since day 4. Maybe one or two after adding hops. I'm sure it's doing its thing!

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

Yes. Mine hasn't bubbled in days! My gravity reading after 6 days was 1.011 so that makes sense. I'm leaving it in for 13/14 days until I bottle. It seems very aggressive at the start, then very quiet (obviously fermenting, but just no bubbles). I also don't know why the instructions request...

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

Okay, Hop pellets (I sterilised the pack, the jug, the scissors, the spoon etc). Didn't need to crush as they become slurry. We're very hot so I put the Jug in a bowl of iced water but was still fairly warm adding to the fermenter. I only let them cool about 5 mins. Instructions say nothing...

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

My first homebrew kit! Because of this review. I started last Sunday (3rd May) and am going to dry hop tonight. Sticking to instructions as it's the first one. I had a little taste of the hopped malt and it was vile! very sweet, very bitter. Strange! Not that I've ever tasted hopped Malt...
