    What did you brew today?

I searched the interweb for a recipe to use up some hops that had been open a while, and found one for a Larkins (Kent) Best Bitter clone on an NZ website: www.wildabouthops.nz, which I adapted a little along the way: 90 minute mash at 68C 3700g Maris Otter 56g Biscuit 112g Mid Crystal 14g...

    What did you brew today?

FG of 1012. Looked / smelled to have some wild yeast on the raspberries, but beer tasted fine - slight souring. Nearly 4 litres bottled - from the layer between the raspberries and the yeast. Now to try and disinfect the fermenter.

    What did you brew today?

Taste test at 10 days conditioning - very drinkable fresh malty ale with subtle hops. Weaker attenuation from the Windsor yeast suits this style.

    What did you brew today?

Five litre biab batch of raspberry pale ale, a combo of several Greg Hughes recipes to use up some leftovers: 1.125kg MO, 375g wheat, 7.5g Golding's at start of boil, 500g frozen raspberries once wort cooled, SG 1062. Safale US 05 yeast.

    What did you brew today?

Starting gravity a bit short at 1048, but the Lallemand Windsor yeast a bit too efficient and achieved a FG of 1013. Risking the old faithful for this batch.

    What did you brew today?

Greg Hughes ESB ale, although without the Ringwood yeast as that didn't survive 16 month in the fridge whilst life's events distracted me from brewing. Very pleased with my Peco Electrim mashing bin that the nice folk at WickedBrewing.uk gave me a very generous deal on - may not be...

    What did you brew today?

After an anxious wait an out of date WLP 002 yeast has made a good start with my GW Old Peculiar clone. I'm hoping this yeast will leave a bit more sweetness compared to the MJ New World Strong Ale yeast I used last time. My rudimentary fermenter (aka a bucket) must not be sealed as the airlock...

    What did you brew today?

Have managed a couple of brew days this week after far too long a break. Tonight I have bottled a Dave Line Webster's Yorkshire Bitter, my first with Windsor yeast which fermented ferociously quickly and hit the target FG of 1010 in four days. In the fermenter is my first attempt at an all grain...

    What did you brew today?

Looks more like 1062 to me, which I'd be very pleased with!

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

Seeing in 2022 with some brewing after far too long a break - fueled by one of my favourite beers from Little Valley.

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Birthday beer - a 2014 Fuller's Imperial Stout. A big big complex beer.

    What did you brew today?

    That's an impressively red ale!

    What did you brew today?

After five weeks in the bottle this is one of my best brews yet. I'm now appreciating the S04 yeast which leaves a little sweetness making for a better balanced beer. The small amount of choc malt comes through, and I'd like to think a hint of spice from the rye. Good bitterness from the hops...

    What did you brew today?

Bottled on 7th July with a FG of 1010. A bit stronger than intended at ~6% but the S04 has left a little sweetness - my previous bitters with Wilko yeast have been too dry. Drinking tonight after six weeks in the bottle, this is a good bitter with balanced hops and malt. Just need to work on the...

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

The aforementioned pint of Vocation Bread and Butter.

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Visited Little Valley Brewery for a mixed case and was treated to the sight of their neighbours stood on the roof pouring sacks of ingredients into their fermenters. Not a big fan of their modern brews, but a pint of Bread and Butter in Hebden Bridge is just the ticket.

    What did you brew today?

Bottling today. Using up some cararye with Challenger and Bramling X hops. Sample from the fermenter tasted very promising - a good balance of hops and malts. Original recipe was posted by bconnery on the Aussie Homebrew Forum, my version being, for a batch of 12 x 500ml bottles (plus the one...

    What did you brew today?

Well, as I achieve some rudimentary skills in homebrew, I need to find new ways to make life hard for myself! Will post how I get on. I'm hoping it leaves a residual sweetness - the dry yeasts like Wilko and S04 seem to do their job too well and result in a drier beer than the original.

    What did you brew today?

Sorry, missed the replies to my post. I'm going to give GW's all grain recipe a go, with Golden Promise pale malt, and the West Yorks yeast. Have tried the extract recipe a couple of times, and the Dark Rock extract kit, but my results were pretty poor! May just be me, but I find it much easier...

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Graham Wheeler's Fuller's London Porter Clone. Delicious, if a bit drier than the original. My favourite of the offerings from Fuller's.
