Ebay sale of Fermenters, Crates, Bottles, Beer Kits etc.

Hi all, I have now given up Home Brewing and four unsuccessful attempts :( All my gear has today been added to Ebay if anyone North East based is interested. It would need collecting from East Boldon, Tyne and Wear. NE36 Auction 1: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261095841292? ... 500wt_1288 This...

    Boilers and Tea Urns

Having done a bit more scouring of the big wide world, I find myself quite liking the idea of BIAB using a boiler or Tea Urn. It would appear to cut out having to work in the kitchen on an induction job and avoid having to go down the propane gas route. I'm thinking I could brew indoors if I...

    The Home Brew Twang

So far Ive bottled 3 brews. Coopers Australian --- Bottled 6 weeks St Peters Ruby Red --- Bottled 3.5 weeks Woodfordes Wherry --- Bottled 9 days All three have that Home Brew Twang and its sort of calling into question the point in brewing kits. The first two were made with bottled water, the...

    Beer Kit Adaptions

Is it not possible to have a sub forum /??? just for beer kit adaptions. Now and again I see people talking about different adaptions to kits however being able to find them all in one section would be excellent. There is only a limited number of kits and Im sure lots of us newbies would love...

    Brew Day Number 4

Had a great day today :) Washed, Sterilised and Rinsed 48 Grolsch bottles (I am one of the sad ones who enjoys this bit). Bottled 22 litres of Woodfordes Wherry. Moved my St Peters into the shed for cold conditioning. And set a Coopers Real Ale away. Not too long til I get some drinkable stock.

    Ooops!

I was reading somewhere (I think on here) about someone successfully using an electric mixer to combine the coopers tin, 2 litres of boiling water and Brew Enhancer. Sounds great I thought, particularly as the brew enhancer looked a bit clumpy. Anyway, I now have an FV with a 4 inch frothy...

    Finings

Got some youngs finnings in the great Tesco sale for my gallon of WOW. Packet is divided into a and b and says does upto 5 gallons. Should I just try and get a little out of each for the downsize or will I be ok just using the full thing?

Dirty Bottles / removing stubborn sediment

I have just become the proud owner of 50 Grolsch bottles however they all seem to have heavy sediment deposits on the bottom. What is the best way to clean these. Cheers. (I have searched the How To's but couldnt find anything)

    Wow back sweetening

I have been following Moleys excellent WOW guide but find myself a bit confused about how to sweeten as I come towards the end. I think Im at the stage to rack off into a new demijohn with a campden tablet and some pottasium sorbate in it. Then leave it a few days. Then do I add sugar to...

    Conditioning and storage

Quick question. Once Ive bottled a kit, warm conditioned it for a fortnight then cold conditioned it for a fortnight, am I okay then to simply store it at room temperature until Im ready to chill and serve? Cheers

    Is this an infection?

Brown bits floating on top of a 13 day old St Peters Ruby Red. Is it an infection? If not will it sink or do I need to syphon into a second FV rather than use tap and mini bottler? Thanks

Bored and stuck in with kids!

Is it possible to make any sort of 4.5 / 5 litre size Demi John drink out of the following stuff lying around? Raspberry jam Strawberry Ribena concentrate Water Yeast and the other bits etc ???

    Does this look normal?

When I did my first brew a couple of weeks ago, a coopers lager, within hours of setting it away there was a big build up of "stuff" on the bottom of the FV. I put that down to me not mixing it very well even though I thought I had. Today I have started a St Peters Ruby Red and within two hours...

    Quick question

I have been talking to some lads on a football forum I frequent about this new hobby (trying to convert them) and have been asked this question. I have suggested he comes to these forums however if anyone has an answer I will pass it on. Cheers

    Chinese Salt and Pepper Chicken

Having had loads of help here it would be nice to give a little something back. If you have ever had Salt and Pepper chicken from the chinese and love it, I have found a fantastic recipe that re-creates it and in all honesty is probably even better. Takes 10 minutes from start to finish...

Hi All, Just started brewing last week and joined here yesterday. Bought a coopers beer starter kit and got the coopers lager that came with it away. However this brewing bug is a bit addictive so having read a few posts and watched a few videos about Turbo Cider yesterday morning, I nipped...
