Moving quickly on, my Camden Amber ale. Deeper Citrus flavours. Then SWMBO'd demanded a glass of red, before the lamb was to be served would you believe!? So of course I decanted the organic, Green, kind to forests etc. Claret for her: A bottle of Carrefour's best. And it's really good Claret!

Oh I'm not so sure about that - it's just that we economic minded Brits aren't keen on the prices of their really good stuff. When Vinopolis / Majestic were at Borough arches I bought some affordable Penfolds Bins 407, 128, 28, 389 wines on their mixed case discount prices. Wonderful wines. They...

Talking of which, I remember now I didn't post this from my brother's 70th B/D bash last Sunday in The Westow, Crystal Palace : Brixton dark mild just a little sweet for me, followed by a Five Points XPA which was like a slightly lower abv Neck Oil. The evening started with a London Pilsner...

Peculiarly we bought the Lindemans not in England but on a day trip in a Calais booze store! There are even apps. now to reclaim the lesser French VAT as you pass through the ferry or Eurotunnel customs zones to make it fully duty free. It makes economic sense for us as we live close to the...

Then it was dinner with good-ol' Lindemans bin 65 chardonnay Just right with a Karai Murgh, that's curried chicken with onions, and fresh roti bread and courgette on the side. All made from scratch by SWMBO'd. No photo available, that really was scoffed!

Yeup! It was only a little bottle of tonic mind, so there's still plenty of the (her) gin left. OK I did have a v.small glass too, just to use up the dregs of the tonic you understand. 🍸🍸

SWMBO'ds G'n'T The colour comes from this Pink peppercorn tonic that came with the Roku, a Japanese craft gin.

    What are you drinking 2024.

Sorry, recipe is impossible to replicate. It's a blend of two brews mistakes making a right-on blend. One was an overly bittered (Challenger) pale ale with my own First Gold hops, the other a too-light bodied Camden pale clone attempt. Not enough brewing salts in it. Then on an inspired...

My Camden Amber ale. Lovely with deeper citrussy hops. Citra and Simcoe. So good I had to have another 🍻

Evenin' all, My KCB bitter, as lovely many-hopped as ever. As previously mentioned, didn't touch the sides so moving on - My Kent Golden ale. Dank and golden rich hop flavours. Not for the faint hearted. Gleaned EKGs and my Prima Donna.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

My Prima Donna #1. Getting away nicely. On a different wall #2 has one shoot similar, with other shoots some way behind but still leafing up. #3 on that same SE wall as #2, but shoots have that stunted look as described with no leaves spreading, even the 150mm high one. . It is more shaded...

Vacqueyras (a Rhone red) with pork. Sublime aromas and flavour. Affordable as it was bought in Carrefour, Calais. Deeper red than the photo implies, the lighting was strange. 🍷🍷👌

And on to my KCB bitter. Crystal clarity, pity it's coming to its end. Sorry @Hazelwood I disagree for the first time, one can never have too much of Bitter! Admittedly you did say, "for now". Who remembers Sparky and His Magic Piano which also warningly said, "For Now" ? Earlier whilst...

    What are you drinking 2024.

My Camden 'Amber ale' clone. Great in the afternoon sun, having refettled a dropped window on the Micra. Araldite rules OK! Then there's just space for a top up to raise the ABV. NO! not really!
